RWBY Vol 7 Episode 9 Discussion – As Above, So Below

After a little hiatus over Christmas RWBY is back this week with an episode FULL of revelations. Clare and Sophie sat down to discuss RWBY Vol 7 Episode 9 – As Above, So Below.

Synopsis

Will you tell the truth? Or will someone tell it for you? The answer can make all the difference in the world.

We pick up where we left off with the Council meeting in Atlas but things rapidly take a turn. Were you expecting Weiss to bust in quite so quickly with the news that her father was working with Watts?

C – Not at all. That was a real surprise but in the best possible way. And it was so good to see Winter backing her sister up too!

S – Absolutely not, I was expecting it to be a long drawn out investigation as to who exactly Jacque had been conspiring with. With Weiss at the helm though no chance! She was amazing! Jacques’ reaction just proved he has no idea what he is doing or what he has gotten himself into, which just fuels my point that he is a moron. He folded so quickly and easily I wasn’t sure who wanted to punch him in the face more Ironwood or Robyn…

C – I’d have been good with either to be honest. And there’s still time (unless he gets eaten by a Grimm on the way to prison).

We got a look at another new kind of Grimm this week – Miles Luna confirmed in a tweet earlier today that it’s called a Teryx – what did you think of it?

C – Well I definitely hope that’s not all we get to see of it. For such an awesome beast I feel like it’s gonna take a bit more to kill. Maybe we will see it on the ground in Mantle next week.

S – When I heard the noise my reaction was WTF was that! It’s definitely in my top 5 scary Grimm, Dino Grimm! Think we will get a T-Rex?

C – Can we? Is that an option? Who do I need to beg for a whole range of dino Grimm???

Speaking of on the ground in Mantle, Qrow is now in the city, Robyn is on her way, and Tyrian is down there causing chaos. Do we think next week might see Qrow and Robyn teaming up against the psychotic faunus like we see in the opening credits?

C – Pretty please, as long as Clover is lurking somewhere nearby to counter Qrow’s bad luck. I refuse to see Tyrian take Qrow down again. My poor heart can’t take that.

S – Ooooo I hope so, Qrow needs a proper showdown with him, as it was Ruby who saved Qrow from Tryrian last time plus he will have his good luck charm somewhere near by I’m sure!!

After the previous episode, with Oscar giving some very wise beyond his years advice to Ironwood, and now this week with his conversation with Ruby, is it just me that feels like maybe Ozpin isn’t as gone as Oscar claims?

S – It makes you wonder if they have started to merge, Ozpin did say they would eventually become one, maybe this is how it happens or it could be Ozpin is being his usual self and is back but that would make the flirting with Ruby really weird….

C – Yeah I think that’s the thing that concerns me most. They seem to be heading down the RoseGarden route but if Ozpin and Oscar are merging then that’s all kinds of creepy and gross.

Okay, so I know we both kinda called it before the end, when we saw the waitress but you’ll have to forgive me for being excited cos my girl Neo is back. Are you looking forward to seeing what she and Cinder are going to get up to?

S – I Knew it!!!!!! As soon as I saw her in the hallway I said to the hubby that she was Neo! When she put an illusion on herself during the vital festival she had green eyes! I knew it!!!!! I wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to whatever they are up to because I know it’s not going to be good but I am curious!

C – I’m just so happy to have them both back. I know they are probably going to cause untold problems for our heroes, but I am excited to see what kind of a spanner they throw in to the works. With Jacques arrested, and an alcoholic, absentee mother, Whitley could be a prime target for manipulation by them?

S – now that’s a scary thought! He is already a questionable human being and they could make him a lot worse! Momma Schnee needs to step up and put the bloody bottle down!

The team finally told Ironwood everything they had learned from Jin! He took it quite well…

S – I’m so glad they finally told him everything, when Robyn confronted him about the communication tower and his response was ‘you know?’ I thought he was gonna fly off the handle but I think he handled the situation really well considering, although I did want someone to punch Jacque in the face but I’ll settle for Weiss arresting him.

C – yeah, I was surprised that he didn’t lose it in either situation, and I’m really proud of him for telling the rest of the council the truth too. I don’t want to say that he was backed into a corner, but I definitely think he realised that it was time to put his big boy pants on and spill the beans rather than flying off the handle. It was a big episode for revelations.
