9-1-1 – Capsized Review

9-1-1 – “Capsized” aired Thursday, March 28th on ABC. “Capsized” is episode 3 of season 7; a continuation of last week’s episode and part 3 of the season premiere. The series explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders who are forced into the most terrifying, shocking, and heartbreaking circumstances.

In “Capsized”, with each moment becoming critical as the ship is flipped upside down, Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause) take charge, seeking methods for rescue while navigating efforts to guide survivors to safety. Meanwhile, Hen (Aisha Hinds) defies protocols in her search for Bobby and Athena. Below is our review of 9-1-1, “Capsized”.

Overall Thoughts

The episode started strong, by showing a family’s adventure through the whole cruise disaster. But I find it concerning how the family kept forgetting the kid. Also, not to nitpick anything but how did all the lifeboats make it out safely with the giant tidal wave?

Special shoutout to Athena and Bobby for seriously keeping a level head during all these insane events, I don’t think anyone, even first responders would keep their wits with them with the amount of stuff these two have gone through within 24 hours. I love how sneaky Hen tries to break the rule with little people involved but then again nothing can get past Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Buck (Oliver Stark), and Eddie (Ryan Guzman). Those three will always have her back and will do anything for Bobby and Athena.

When Buck and Eddie opened the lid, you could see the immediate relief on Bobby’s face. I totally rolled my eyes when the chief took all the credit, even though he didn’t believe Hen in the beginning. Was it just me or did Buck seem a bit…off? He’s usually the funny one and never serious. But something seemed off about him and Eddie.

Yeah, that should be our motto, ‘Who cares?!’” – Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley (Oliver Stark)

I’m really loving how they made the season premiere into a three-part episode and they didn’t rush a single moment. Making it one big disaster and not a ton of little ones. It brings me back to the previous seasons with one large emergency. These episodes have been amazing; from not knowing what was going to happen next to who was going to live. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season holds.
