RWBY Vol 7 Chapter 4 Discussion – Pomp and Circumstance

Hey RWBY fans, it’s that time again. The brand new episode has dropped for Rooster Teeth FIRST members so it is time for Clare and Sophie’s RWBY Vol 7 Chapter 4 Discussion. Check it out, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments. Obviously this post will contain spoilers if you haven’t seen Chapter 4 yet!

This was a very important episode for our core characters as we saw them being granted their full Huntsmen and Huntress licences. As Yang (Barbara Dunkelman) said, “After everything we’ve been through, I almost forgot this is what I wanted in the first place”. Do you think that this will change our faves in any way?

S – At least they won’t have to worry about being arrested for unauthorized use of weapons!!

C – That is so true. I don’t think it will change the way they work together, but I sort of hope it makes them a little more careful. Although given the way they all reacted to that mission board I HIGHLY doubt it.

S – I think they just want to help people and if that means killing a few Grimm on the way so be it.

The inevitable happened in this episode too, with Weiss (Kara Eberle) coming face to face with her father once more, after escaping him last Volume. Given his later meeting with Arthur Watts (Christopher Sabat), do you think that Jacques (Jason Douglas) will take this opportunity to turn against Ironwood and his daughter and her friends?

S – I think Jacques is going to be a complete and utter (bad word), we don’t know the story with Weiss’ mom but she needs to step up!! I’m kinda hoping Whitley will unknowingly tell the team about Watts…. I really do think this side of the Schnees are going to make the situation worse and I hope that Weiss gets to slap her father the way he slapped her!!! I may feel quite strongly about this! We need more information about the mother, to raise Winter and Weiss the way they are only to hide away in a room….. or so we have been told, it wouldn’t surprise me if Jacques has her locked away.

C – I will cheer SO hard if Weiss does get to slap her dad. Actually can we have a queue, a bit like in Airplane, with Weiss, and then Winter, and then their mother?

What do you think of what the Ace Ops had to say about being friends vs just working together?

C – First off, the rest of them need to stop being mean to Marrow!

S – yea there is no need to be mean to Marrow, he is just excitable!

C – because he is puppy!!

S – as far as being colleagues and not friends, I think you would go further in helping or protecting people who you consider family or friends. That being said in the business of being hunters and huntresses it could be seen as a weakness as you wouldn’t put them at risk to achieve your mission/goal.

C – Agreed. I think the bonds that Team RWBY and JNR have forged with everything they have been through make them stronger. It’s not just a case of knowing how to work with your teammates to your strengths. It’s about understanding them as people and how you fit together.

What was your favourite part this week?

C – two words… THUNDER THIGHS! Ren (Neath Oum) picking Nora (Sam Ireland) up like she was a statue and carrying her off screen was fricking priceless!!

S – hahaha THUNDER THIGHS!! definitely! But when it came to the feels, had to be when Ruby (Lindsay Jones) and Qrow (Jason Liebrecht) were talking about Summer, I may have had tears in my eyes… a little bit…

C – Yeah, that was so bittersweet. I love Qrow and Ruby’s relationship, and I’ve missed those little moments between them.

Do you think that Summer Rose is really dead, or do you think perhaps we might see her again soon?

C – there was something about that conversation between Qrow and Ruby that makes me think maybe she isn’t dead. Maybe something happened to her on whatever mysterious mission she went on, and she is still out there somewhere, trying to get back to her family.

S – I would love this to be true but I think she is dead, it’s been far too long and so much has happened. We saw what happened to Maria, they would have finished her off if she hadn’t kicked their butts first, people are hunting down silver eyed warriors and as much as I wish there was a summer and ruby reunion in the air, I don’t think it will happen.

One thing that is still bugging me… they all think Salem can not be destroyed!

S – they clearly were not listening properly during Jinn’s explanation.. which to be fair was overwhelming, they need to make Salem learn a lesson!! I hope this is something Ironwood points out when or if they finally tell him!

C – Yeah, it’s frustrating cos the last thing they heard Jinn say was “You can’t.” but there was so much more in her story. Oz’s quest to unite humanity and Salem’s to understand the value of life and death are, to me anyway, inextricably linked. She has to earn her redemption and death by understanding what she did was selfish and wrong, and how it’s affected literally everyone on earth. Only by helping her realise this, will they bring humanity together. Or at least that’s how I see it.

RWBY Vol 7 Chapter 4 – Pomp And Circumstance – is available now on RoosterTeeth for FIRST members. It will be available to the general public on Saturday November 30th.
