The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Performance” Review

The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Performance” is the seventh episode if the Idaten anime. Following on from their crashing of a religious meeting in Sarabael at the end of episode 6. Paula and Ysley bring peacetime between them and Hotaena and Zoble is finally attacked by the Idaten.

Plot

Beginning the episode Ysley and Paula make themselves known to the humans of Sarabael. After proving they’re not human, by catching a bullet. The leaders of the nation listen to their plan. They make it clear that Zoble is going to fall as the gods will be attacking it. However the leaders of Sarabael must get along peacefully with the next biggest nation, Hotaena. After a long conversation they agree. Saying they’ll be peaceful but still keep selling random crap and sending fake mystics to ensure their riches.

Meanwhile, after finding out that Hayato has made leaps and bounds in his training. A plan is hatched with everyone cooperating, to attack Zoble. Rin and Hayato team up to begin with but as she notices his change in strength she allows them to spilt up. She is attacked by what she thinks are weakling demons but it turns out to be Brandy using her power to control bodies like marionettes. Hayato rescues the nun and other captives but is approached to fight by Takeshita.

Miku uses her uncanny ability to read the outcome of the battle and leaves before the battle starts. She takes Umeyo with her, who is pregnant with two boys at the time.

Review

Whilst it seems to be fairly slowly paced episode at the start things soon pick up. The fact that the religious leaders had no shame in admitting they were just using people’s belief in God as a cash cow to two gods was hilarious. They really are scummy but in a over the top funny way. Whilst Ysley shows just what he’s made of intellectually by subconsciously making Hayato stronger and tricking the humans. Paula is showing that she can also be just as quick on the uptake and is quickly becoming a favourite character of mine.

Whilst the action starts suddenly, it’s perfectly paced so that it never once feels rushed or forced and I love that. The Idaten just deciding to hatch some sort of plan, along with the ex-demons and just attacking as soon as possible totally makes sense and is further backed up by Miku running away. Even she knew it would happen and knew the demons couldn’t win. I’ve got a feeling something unexpected will happen soon though, I’m excited to find out!
