The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Whirlwind” Review
The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Whirlwind” is the third episode of the Idaten anime. This episode shows the demons what they’re up against and finally realising that they’re hopelessly out of touch. Whilst more study is done into what exactly the professor is. The idea constantly changing from the one Ysley had in episode 2.
Plot
With the demons having watched the video of the Idaten fighting. They come up with a plan to take them out as soon as possible. Nickel is sent to take them out. Interrupting their training session. He takes on All of them but Ysley and Paula retreat fast, Ysley knowing there’s another demon nearby that’s going to try and take Rin and Hayato out from a distance.
The fight wages on and whilst Hayato does get injured Nickel realises he’s way stronger than he realised. Having Hayato injured means Rin takes over and pretty much obliterates the guy. Taking his head off with a sword she manifests so quick he doesn’t even realise it for a while.
Whilst the episode shows us a flashback of Rin’s childhood and all the pain she put herself though in order to become as tough as she is. Even showing a small clip of her training Prontea, Ysley’s master.
The fight ends and Rin asks where Ysley is. Whilst Ysley is on the phone to a scientist who’s examining the body he sent him in episode 1, he then says he has a new sample for him. Meaning Nickel’s head.
Review
An action heavy episode that is able to still keep me guessing? Perfect! Rin is finally able to show just a fraction of what she’s made of and whilst it was obvious who was going to win, the fight was so well choreographed that it was fun to watch anyway.
The flashback of Rin did keep the episode grounded, it never felt out of place or jarring and the acing was perfect. It also helped to solidify why she believes the best way to train someone is to cause them pain over and over. Overall a perfectly action packed episode that delivers everything it needs to.
