Combatants Will Be Dispatched “Strong Partner And Smart Partner” Review
Combatants Will Be Dispatched “Strong Partner And Smart Partner” is the twelfth and final episode of the Combatants anime. Following the cliff-hanger left in episode 11 Agent 6 and the gang are all desperately trying to think of a plan to either defeat Russell or escape. As usual, Alice comes up with a genius plan but it means Agent 6 has to go into negative points.
Fighting Russell
Not knowing fully what Alice’s plan is, Agent 6 is sent to distract Russell for as long as possible. He keeps him busy until Russell halfway works out what he’s trying to do and threatens to ruin everything. So Agent 6 uses a crap ton of points and summons a crap ton of weapons. He uses them on the massive mech machine but they don’t even dent it. Finally down to his last rifle he tosses it aside and starts to use the mega sword he used to defeat the demon army before.
He manages to finally do a tiny bit of damage to the right leg of the mech. It falls and crushes him and Russell uses this chance to go and finish the job and kill him. When finally Alice shows up in what the Kisaragi corp. call The Destroyer. A huge spider like weapon that Alice pilots. They clash but Agent 6 passes out so we don’t see the full fight. When he wakes up Alice is there and explains that she beat Russell and they have him in custody and that Tiger Man also succeeded in his mission. Also, Agent 6 has been asleep for 3 days and poor Alice has had to clean up his poop and urine all that time.
Russell’s punishment
The two go down to see Russell to ask him to make water for the kingdom but he’s not playing ball. So they release Tiger Man onto him. Tiger man is pretty notorious for being a podophile. Loving the idea of dressing up Russell in a dress and leering at him. Not caring about his gender, just that he’s young. Out of fear he agrees but he has to make the water under the supervision of Tiger Man and in a dress.
The episode ends with Alice introducing Rose to eel meat. And Agent 6 ordering socks for her to see if she will combust as she says she will. She does but the team are ready for it and know just to prepare offerings for her revival. We also see a glimpse of Heine swearing to save the rest of her lost crew.
Review
I kinda loved this episode and thought it was the perfect send off for the first part of the show. It had it’s trademark humour but none of the send offs were that sad, more like looking to the future. The show showed enough to get me excited for what’s going to come but not too much that it would spoil it. Managing that balance meant that it wasn’t the funniest. The most action packed. Or the saddest episode of the season but I’m OK with that. The promise of more shenanigans was perfect.
A lovely ending to a fun series.
