Superman & Lois Oh Mother, Where Art Thou? Roundtable Review

After a stunning cliffhanger last week it’s time to dive in to Oh Mother, Where Art Thou, the tenth episode of Superman & Lois.

“O Mother, Where Art Thou?” Synopsis

Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) reaches out to Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) when Kyle (Erik Valdez) starts behaving strangely; Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) opens up to Jordan (Alex Garfin); Sarah (Inde Navarrette) storms out after accusing her mom of always covering for her dad.

Do you think Clark’s “Brother” is lying about his back story to throw Clark off?

R: No, I don’t think he’s lying at all. Like Clare already said, Superman’s mother kind of told the same story, or at least glimpses of it. Morgan Edge might be a liar most of the time, but as of now I think he’s telling the truth for once. He probably already knew that Superman wouldn’t join his team. Who knows what he has in store for us in the next episodes.

C: No, given what Lara-in-Lana said later in the episode about her previous relationship and then falling in love with Jor-El I think it’s totally true. As for what he said about how he was treated…maybe if his first instinct hadn’t been to laser the first humans he encountered it would have been a different story.

PB: There are so many families and stories on Clark’s planet. So it could very much be true.

So X-kryptonite, is like revenge of the body snatchers or soul snatchers?

C: Yeah, seems that way. I’m just glad that Lara was able to find a way to reverse the process. I just hope it’s permanent, and that we won’t get remnants of Kryptonian psyches flashing up again. I just feel like something else is going to happen, it all seemed to get wrapped up too neatly…

R: Guess it’s a bit of both worlds. Luckily it seems to be fixed as of now, but I guess Morgan Edge has a Plan B and maybe even a Plan C. It’s far from over yet. I do think that this is just the beginning.

PB: I would hope it’s not snatching their souls but sadly it looks like it is. Because even their voices change. It’s like 2 souls in one body. I feel like we have seen this type of storyline in different CW shows in the past.

Lana volunteering to become Clark’s mom, Thoughts?

R: It was a huge step for her and I do believe that she might reconsidered her decision at some point. She definitely did the right thing though. Helping everyone to defeat Morgan Edge’s army. Getting Kyle back and being one happy family after all. Hope they’ll be able to figure things out now, but this shouldn’t be difficult.

PB: People will do anything for people they love. I am proud to see her step up and do it. Sidenote, I love that she kinda fangirls over seeing Superman. I would have too.

C: I get why she did it, she felt guilty about what had been done to all those other people. That seems to be a pretty common driving factor for a lot of people in this series. It did feel a little convenient though. I’m still confused as to how they pick the right consciousness to “download” into the host, how they could be sure they’d get Lara and not some Kryptonian psychopath.

It was nice to see the teenagers not be damn whiny this episode, don’t you agree?

PB: I really liked seeing the boys finally work together and finally acting like their dad is Superman.

R: I already mentioned this in a couple of round table reviews, but I actually do like these whiny teenagers as you call them. Yeah they might be annoying from time to time, but in the end they always have each other’s back. It was hard for them being thrown into a whole new world with superpowers and all this stuff. It’s nothing where you go like: Oh, you’re Superman? Great. What’s for lunch?” They needed time to understand everything, especially with Jordan having powers as well. To cut a long story short: Loved their whole behaviour this episode.

C: Yes! Absolutely. This truly felt like it was an episode of a show called Superman & Lois! Jonathan is definitely my second fave character at this point.

Superman yet again saved the world but he weakened himself in the process and Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner) got away.  Do you think this was a win or a bigger fight is coming?

PB: Something big is coming for sure.  It’s gonna be an ugly fight for sure.

R: As of now it’s a win, but I’m sure there’s pretty much more to come. This wasn’t the last we’ve seen from Morgan Edge. Let’s see what he’s planning next. Something bigger? Something better? As long as they’ll keep losing I don’t care. Superman for the win.

C: I think they won this battle, but the war is still to come.

“Oh Mother, Where Art Thou?” Overall Rating:

C: 8.5

R: 8

PB: 7
