Combatants Will Be Dispatched “Corrupt Black-Hearted Knight” Review

Combatants Will Be Dispatched “Corrupt Black-Hearted Knight” is the eighth episode of the Combatants anime. Following on from the mystery of the missing water in episode 7 the Princess can’t get the magic artefact to work so she sends Snow, Agent 6 and the crew to Toris. A land they’ve been importing water stones from. In order to have Snow seduce the King who’s a famous ladies man, into giving over loads of the water stones.

Plot

Agent 6 has clearly been gaining and using points because the crew have an SUV to travel around in now. Knowing the mission, Snow immediately turns on the charm with the doorman. Everyone gets ready for the party and things aren’t going quite to plan. Grimm is flirting with an older man, Rose is easting all the meat with the bones and Snow’s advances don’t seem to be working on the King.

Alice shows Agent 6 a deep freeze incubator she found in the depths of the castle whilst snooping around. They’re then approached and yelled at by another of the elite four Demons, Russel of the water. Heine walks in on Russel to get him back but Agent 6 jumps her and gets Alice to order some handcuffs. He proceeds to fondle her, earning him a crap ton of evil points.

Later Agent 6 breaks up the party by approaching and exposing the king. The king is working with the demon lords but he calls it a temporary negotiation cos he’s an idiot. Snow and Heine are clearly both trying to manipulate this man so they start to fight over him. Agent 6 realises he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do and does the “dick on head topknot joke” on the King in front of everyone.

When they get back they find that the Kingdom of Toris is declaring war on the Kingdom of Grace. So the Princess sends them off to the Sand King’s territory to get a nut that supposedly produces tons of water. Whilst on the drive there. They discover that the reason the King stopped being so interested in women was because he was hit by Grimm’s curse aimed at Agent 6.

Review

Man I loved this episode. The Princess screaming “Dick Festival” at the start had me rolling and it never stopped being funny from there on. Agent 6 is his usual self. But because he has everyone else to bounce off of his comedy moments work better now. For example the Topknot joke wouldn’t have been half as hilarious if it weren’t for the shots of everyone’s shocked faces. It still would’ve been funny. But nowhere near as hilarious as it was.

Fantastic directing. Voice acting and pacing. This episode had it all. Whilst also moving the plot along nicely. I personally cannot wait to see what the crew come up against in the Sand King’s territory.
