Superman & Lois Broken Trust Roundtable Review

After too many weeks off, we are back with Superman & Lois – Broken Trust. I must say I was beyond happy to have Superman back on my TV. This week’s episode we got a lot more information on some of these “bad guys” and the mystery reporter that has befriended Lois. So let’s get into our roundtable review.

Superman & Lois – Broken Trust Synopsis

Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) reconsiders his decision to let Jordan (Alex Garfin) play football; Lois’ (Elizabeth Tulloch) continued investigation of Morgan Edge requires her to trust an unexpected ally.

What did you think overall of this episode?

PB:  Enjoyed it but there was one part for me that for some reason I really loved and that was when Clark told his son to let it out and he took the pain his son needed to release. I am not sure why that part got me in my feels but it did.

R: I just missed Tyler Hoechlin on my screen. Having him, and all the other cast members, back after such a long time was making me quite happy in general. I always enjoy those football scenes. Kind of a sports person myself. Also the storyline with Tag (Wern Lee) is not that bad. The scenes between Clark and his kids kind of got me this time. Some emotional ones for sure.

C: I did enjoy it, although it felt a little slow to me. There were some great scenes, and a better balance between Clark and Lois stuff and the kids, although the focus is still too much on the boys for a show called Superman & Lois (in my opinion).

Do you think it is a good idea for Jordan to play football or should he quit until he gets his powers under control?

R: It’s probably for the best if he stops playing until he can control his powers. Otherwise more people will get hurt. Maybe now that he hurt his own brother he’ll figure it out himself. It’s a tough decision, but it’s for his own safety.

C: I personally think that the second he started showing powers Clark probably should have locked his ass in the Fortress till he’d got his shit together. Tell everyone he went to some prestigious academy or military school (Grandpa’s a 4 Star General, it’s believable) if they ask…

PB:  I think he needs to get them under control before he kills someone.

About Jordan’s powers, do you think he got them naturally from his dad or do you think it has to do with that X-Kryptonite?

C: I do think he got them naturally from his dad, seems like from the explosion that caused Tag’s abilities and the machine Leslie Larr (Stacey Farber) was using in the previous episode that X-Kryptonite requires activating with heat in order for it to give someone powers.

PB: I have been wondering this since they moved to Smallville. I would think he got it from his dad but this is a TV show, so who knows if they will keep it that way. I honestly am still shocked that Jonathon (Jordan Elsass) doesn’t have any powers.

R: After what we’ve seen so far, maybe he didn’t get them naturally from his dad. Maybe there’s another reason for it. X-Kryptonite would be one good option, but maybe there’s something else. Can’t wait until we are able to figure it out.

Speaking of the boys, thoughts on what happened with Jordan hurting Jonathan?

PB: I kinda knew this was gonna happen but I thought it was gonna be Lois or his crush. I hope Jonathan can forgive him.

R: As PB already mentioned, it was only a matter of time until he would hurt the people he loves. Jonathan’s reaction was understandable. He didn’t even want to leave the hotel room in the first place. Then he tried to stop his brother from doing something pretty bad and in the end he’s the one in pain. But I’m sure he’ll forgive him sooner or later. Talking bout Jordan: I really hope he’ll be able to at least slightly control his powers pretty soon. No more damage please. It’s not easy for him, but he has Clark. Please listen to your dad. You got this Jordan.

C: I have a theory…that Jonathan does have powers. I think Clark’s range of abilities may be split across the boys, with each of them getting something different and that’s why he was actually able to stop that punch from Jordan.

I also think he might heal faster than the doctors say too…but I shall wait and see.

What do you think Marcus (Wolé Parks)’s endgame is with Lois? Or does he really just wanna take down Clark/Superman?

C: I’m pretty sure he’s going to try and “win her over” like “his Lois” but he’s crazy if he thinks he’s going to come between her and Clark.

R: In general: He wants to cause damage I guess? Hopefully Lois will be able to connect the dots and reveal what’s going on with Marcus. Luckily she’s already on it. Never trust a guy like Marcus.

PB: I think he just wants to take Lois, since “His Lois” is gone. But I don’t think Clark will let that happen.

What was your reaction when you saw those four Kryptonite bullets flying at Clark when he was with Tag and Sarah?

R: I’m not even surprised that Sam (Dylan Walsh) came up with something like that. I don’t trust this guy a tiny bit, even though he’s part of the family. To be honest, he’s a pain in the ass most of the time. So I do agree with Clare. He should have taken some kind of revenge. Even though that would have been the complete opposite behavior he’s trying to teach Jordan. All this “control your powers and earn people’s trust”. But for real, that’s one big no go from me. Tag and Sarah are still kids for god’s sake.

PB: I think I said it in another episode review he is a bad apple. He doesn’t trust Clark/Superman at all. Gen. Lane is a military man and he is all about rules and order. He hates that Superman answers to no one as he thinks Superman is a weapon and should be used as one

C: I’m seriously surprised Clark didn’t laservision Sam Lane’s ass into another dimension for that, but that wouldn’t be very Superman of him. I can’t believe Sam has gone there, arming his men with K-rounds. I wonder if he’s let Captain Luthor’s words get to him a little too easily.

The Cliffhanger at the end, thoughts?

PB: I really hope Jordan gets help from the fortress or this will not end well.

R: I would like to say I didn’t see this one coming at all but that’s not true. After what we’ve seen over the last few episodes it was getting worse with his powers. He probably can’t handle all of it. It’s just too much for him. He doesn’t know what to do with the amount of powers he has. When we saw him letting it all out on the football pitch, this was probably just a tiny bit of what he’s capable of. There’s so much more to come. Let’s see. Hopefully this won’t end pretty damn bad.

C: Pretty sure Clark’s gonna get him to the Fortress and he’ll be okay, but like I said before I think he needs to stay there until he gets his shit together.

Superman & Lois – Broken Trust – Overall rating:

PB: 6.5

C: 7.5 for me

R: Let’s give this one a solid 8.
