Tomodachi Game “It’s a Game Where You Wait, and Wait, and Wait… and Keep Waiting” Review

Tomodachi Game “It’s a Game Where You Wait and Wait and Wait and Keep Waiting” is the eighth episode of the Tomodachi Game anime. Beginning the game that was set up at the end of episode 7. Tenji and Yuichi find the perfect hiding spot for Tenji, making sure Maria can’t see where Tenji ends up. Tenji spends 3 days with no food or water brought to him. It’s obvious to Tenji and the audience at that point that Yuichi must have a plan but that doesn’t stop Tenji from hallucinating and going half mad from the exhaustion and hunger. Turns out Yuichi does have a plan but it isn’t explained all we really get are hints. Things like Maria calling in to say he’s “scarier than she ever thought” and Yuichi swapping sides with Group K. Why? Who knows what he’s up to. One thing is clear, Yuichi knew that all Team K had to do was to tail him to win so he’s dancing around the rules to ensure he’s on the winning team.

Yuichi The Mastermind

Whilst team K do have their own mastermind, he doesn’t even come close to the cold genius of Yuichi. I mean, his plan of just following the team mate to find the hiding place is so obvious even I thought of it. I can’t help but feel that Kadokura’s intellect has been wildly overestimated, the one thing team K do have is the spirit of an actual team but if they don’t have the brains to play the Tomodachi Game at it’s own nonsense then they’ll never win.

I liked this episode but mainly because it’s setting up for a master move by Yuichi and showed for everyone to see Tenji’s determination to destroy the game entirely, even leaving his life in Yuichi’s hands when he knows the guy’s a total psychopath.
