Attack On Titan “From You 2000 Years Ago” Review
Attack On Titan “From You 2000 Years Ago” is the eightieth episode of the Attack On Titan anime. This episode focuses on telling the tragic story of Ymir, the founder. And finally the rumbling begins and Eren begins his path to destruction. Having finally released himself from the shackles he was in at the end of episode 79 not even Zeke can stop him.
Ymir The Founder
This episode is expertly paced. Ebbing and flowing between hatred, happiness, hope and hopelessness. The tragic story of Ymir is the perfect backdrop for that, knowing how the titans came to be and under what circumstances gives credit to Eren’s plan later in the episode to crush everyone outside the walls to death. The pain of Ymir can be felt in the cruel, hopeless world she comes from. Much like Eren’s cruel and hopeless world. Making the two perfectly in synch with each other, so much so that Eren even asks if Ymir was the one who brought him there, lamenting how long Ymir must’ve been waiting.
Zeke’s personality change here is so quick and expertly done. Once again he goes from an arrogant know it all who’s got plans for his plans to a desperate man seeing the control slip through his fingers. And it’s all down to Eren and his determination to just keep moving forward. What was heavily hinted at only last episode is finally confirmed. By Zeke no less. Eren was the person who orchestrated everything. Eren knew for 4 years, since he kissed Historia’s hand what his future would be. And what he’d have to do in order to free the world.
This episode had zero slow or empty moments, the story of Ymir had me captivated as did Eren’s desperation to force Ymir to do his bidding. And Zeke’s control over her slipping.
The main question is, has he seen everything? Is this really his final plan and what if it goes wrong? How will anyone stop him now that he’s started the rumbling? One thing’s for sure I cannot wait to see the consequences of his actions and what his friends will do knowing what he plans to do.
