In “Love Is in the Air”, a wedding proposal intersects with a bank robbery. A princess bride is stuck on her way to the altar. Athena (Angela Bassett) talks to a victim through her grief. Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) takes matters into her own hands as Buck (Oliver Stark) finds a surprise visitor on his doorstep. Below is our recap/review of 9-1-1, “Love Is in the Air”.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from Monday night’s “Love Is in the Air” episode. Read at your own risk!

The episode begins with a man jumping out of a building to propose to his girlfriend only to have his parachute caught up in a getaway truck. As Athena chases after the robbers, she informs them that the bank gave them decoy money, which exploded, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. After Buck (Peter Krause) and Bobby (Buck Rae) pull the bank robber from the vehicle, the others are administering first aid to the diver.

While the team is heading off, Chimney (Kenneth Choi) and Ravi (Anirudh Pisharody) are taking a double shift. As Maddie is cleaning up after Jee, she finds the engagement ring that lost in last week’s episode. As Maddie panics, she leaves it on the kitchen counter, unable to take her attention away from the ring, which leads to her trying it on and getting stuck.

Buck’s on a date with Natalia when he bumps into Lucy Donato, who’s now part of Air Support. Lucy knows some stories about Buck, but before she can share, a member of her team stops her from answering any questions. The team is called out to help an elderly bride whose horse-drawn carriage has fallen through the floorboards. The bride has waited years to marry her husband and tells the team that this might be her last chance. The team gets her to the chapel.

“Buck, Eddie, saws and jaws.” – Bobby Nash (Peter Krause)

Later, Maddie rings on Buck’s door showing him the stuck engagement ring. As Buck is trying to find his ring cutter, Maddie is mad why Chimney never asked her. Buck explained everything to her and accidentally told her how Hen (Aisha Hinds) didn’t approve. Eddie (Ryan Guzman) was helping Christopher (Gavin McHugh) with his project when he realized he might need some help, asking Bobby for assistance. Eddie seeks some advice from Bobby about how he found Athena.

Athena was called to a home where a cancer-stricken man had passed away. Athena was at the scene for a procedure as he passed away without any medical attention nearby. The wife admits to Athena how her husband wanted her to assist in a medical suicide but she couldn’t go through with it.

Buck invites Natalia to his apartment where they see his ex-girlfriend Taylor Kelly (Megan West) on the news talking about her new book. Natalia has questions, but Buck deflects them. Chimney talks to the insurance company while discussing proposing to Maddie. Maddie confronts Hen and shows her the stuck ring. Buck forgets to tell Natalia about being a donor to his friend’s wife. The next morning, Maddie proposes to Chimney.

Overall Thoughts

Love is in the air. It’s not every day we get to see both Maddie and Eddie become very awkward and nervous, it’s easy to understand why they are both nervous. For Maddie, it’s the fear of what happened to her the first time and for Eddie, it’s finally going back into the dating scene. We are finally getting a Maddie and Chimney wedding! But using Jee to help propose to him was seriously the most adorable moment ever!

Let’s not forget Eddie doing the back glance when finally got over his nerves and was lowkey flirting with someone they rescued in the past. She also returned the back glance as well. I’m not sure what to make of Buck and Natalia; Buck has a long list of issues as well as the fact that he has died and still dealing with that aftermath.
