The episode starts off with Athena called out to a landfill with Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) in the back of her police cruiser. 2 days earlier; Chimney and Hen are looking at engagement rings for Maddie. Chimney is having some PTSD about his ex. After talking with Hen, Chimney decided on the perfect ring for her. While talking to the team, Chimney started to feel overwhelmed.

Our first emergency call of the episode comes in as a girl calls 911 as she is choking on what she believes is her teeth. The team is called in and they discover that the girl is suffering from tonsil stones. Bobby orders the victim to be taken to the hospital, who denies it. Bobby (Peter Krause) and the team warn her of the dangers of what could happen like choking on her own blood, to which the girl then agrees.

After the call, Buck (Oliver Stark) and Hen are talking about Chimney when Buck realizes that Hen doesn’t want Chimney to marry Maddie. Hen doesn’t forgive Maddie for leaving Chimney and Baby Jee when she was sick last season. Buck points out that they both deserve to be happy. Hen tells him that she is only trying to protect her best friend.

“I believe you, Buckley. You’re a terrible liar.” – Howie ‘Chimney’ Han (Kenneth Choi)

During a family outing to the mall when a mother loses her four-year-old son. Maddie is on the phone with the mother as Josh (Bryan Safi) dispatches the police to the mall. Athena arrives at the mall, with calls coming in from the mall informing them they have spotted a lone child, they use the crowd of the mall to call the kid out of hiding.

Two roommates were searching for a computer tower worth about $4 million in a landfill when they got buried under trash. The team worked together to pull them out. One of the roommates was found first, but unfortunately, he was injured from a piano wire. The other roommate was found by Ravi (Anirudh Pisharody) at the top of the trash mountain near a small fire. Ravi and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) were able to rescue him just in time before the fire reached him.

Chimney finally decided that he was going to propose, but he couldn’t find the ring. He searched everywhere and started to think that his colleagues took it as a joke. Chimney knew that Buck was a bad liar. Hen told him that he shouldn’t get married, and they talked about Chimney’s doubts. After their chat, they returned to their previous calls to search for the ring. They ended up at the landfill again, where Athena found them. Later, at Hen’s house, Chimney suggested that maybe this was a sign that they shouldn’t get married. Maddie was at home with Jee-Yun when Jee pulled out the engagement ring from her stroller and placed it in her dollhouse. She had gotten hold of it earlier when Chimney was showing it to his daughter.

Overall Thoughts

This episode felt very different from previous episodes, I can’t quite put my finger on what made it feel so different. We did find out that Hen has been very upset since Maddie left last season and never forgive her like everyone else did. Showing how much she wants to protect her best friend, Chimney. We also got to see Buck’s protective side of her sister when he figured out that Hen still blamed Maddie. With two episodes left of the season, it’s only a matter of when we will see Chimney propose to Maddie.
