Learning about the love story of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel, India Amarteifio) and King George (James Fleet, Corey Mylchreest) but most importantly we saw the struggles they went through as a couple in the early stages of their marriage. Everything is on the line for their marriage to work, including the Great Experiment. Thoughts?

Brina – Watching them struggle in the beginning of their marriage was really hard. The “treatment” he put himself through to be “better” for her was just sad and unhealthy. I honestly didn’t know that they had an arranged marriage. I thought they had fallen in love with each other because they seemed to love each other so much. I really did love seeing that they fought so hard to make their relationship work. Despite all the challenges they were facing in their marriage.

Amy – During their love story, I wasn’t prepared for it to be such a struggle; the main struggle being King George’s mental health and his attempts to fix himself. We knew older King George was a little off from the Bridgerton series but I thought it was due to old age, not something he experienced in his youth. Seeing how Charlotte would help calm him down brought a new set of tingles that just warms the soul. Famer George and hiding from the stars under the bed. Thought I would have loved to see when he started calling her Lottie.

Princess Augusta (Michelle Fairley) made it very clear from the very beginning that she was in control of the crown and Younger King George. What did you think of this and how it added to the storyline?

Brina – I think she was just a mother trying to protect her son the best way she knew how even if it wasn’t the best way. Royalty always has a way of trying to save face and make themselves look better than they really are and they showed that in this show. I hated her a lot of the time she was on the screen. But as a mother I totally understand what she was trying to do.

Amy – Michelle Fairley knows how to play a mother who only wants what’s best for her children and she did not disappoint one bit in this series. She had me truly hating Princess Augusta at times. Though we know her motives behind everything was for the Great Experiment to be a success, still made it tough to tolerate her at times.

Favorite moment?

Brina – My favorite moment was when Charlotte met the king for the first time. There was something about how much they were attracted to each other and how quickly their minds changed as soon as they saw each other.

Amy – I have a new favorite line and I will be using it, “sorrows, sorrows, prayers”. Every time Queen Charlotte said it she got louder and louder with it. There were a lot of great moments, but I have to say mine was watching Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) explain to Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) about tending her garden.

Least favorite moment?

Brina – I hated every moment of King George’s treatment. I hate seeing him go through all that it was awful for me and really sad.

Amy – There weren’t any moments I didn’t like, but there were some scenes that I didn’t enjoy. Like George’s treatment and the act of the affair with Young Lady Danbury and Lord Ledger (Keir Charles).

While seeing some very familiar faces, we got a whole new cast to play their younger versions. Who was your favorite performance?

Brina – I agree with Amy, Sam and Freddie stole the show but I really loved young Lady Dansbury (Arsema Thomas) she was my favorite.

Amy – Where do I even start? Shonda Rhimes did an amazing job at casting the younger stars that look so much like the older versions. Though all of them did just fantastic work, I need to call out Sam Clemmett who plays the Young Brimsley, and Freddie Dennis who plays Reynolds. Those two stole the show and made me look forward to their scenes, may they be together or with someone else.

Were you shocked to find Out Queen Charlotte had so many kids? As it was never brought up in the first two seasons.

Brina- I was totally in shock to find out she had so many children. In the Bridgeton’s they never hint that she has children. She’s so focused on finding the bell of the ball or whatever the bell of the season. You never hear Her discuss her children. And why was she so focused on finding matches for random people but not her own children?

Amy – The fact that she has 15 children caught me off guard! I thought Violet had a lot with her 6, but Queen Charlotte takes the crown. Pun intended. Though I totally get how her main focus was on having heirs to the throne, it does bring up the question of why she never focused on finding matches for her children as Brina pointed out.

The other love affair that needs more exploring is Brimsley and Reynolds. Don’t you agree?

Brina – I was left wanting to know what happen to these two. They were so damn cute and loved them. But we see that Brimsley stays by the Queen’s side but what happened to Reynolds?

Amy – These two are beyond adorable! The side glances they always shared. The dancing scene broke my heart when it went from the couple dancing to Brimsley dancing by his lonesome self. But it brings up the largest question of the show, what happened to Reynolds? Just want a simple explanation, even if he passed away, just tell us.

Anything Else to Add for Overall Thoughts of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story? Any other spin-offs would you like to see?

Brina – I would have said seeing the story of Lady Dansbury would have been a great spin-off but now that we kind of got that in this show. I’m not sure what I would like to see, maybe just how the Bridgerton’s came together.

Amy – Shonda Rhimes went above and beyond at retelling Julia Quinn’s book series once again. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story did not disappoint in any way and went above all my expectations. Before this show, I only tolerated Queen Charlotte and just pegged her as a normal Queen; but now seeing the struggles she went through, she has earned all my respect. And of course, Lady Danbury will forever be the GOAT, the greatest of all time! I would love to see the love story of Violet and Edmund. We have heard about it from all the Bridgerton’s but seeing it would be magical.
