9-1-1 -- season 6 episode 9 -- Red Flag -- Peter Krause

Honorable Mentions

The episode began with an interesting phone call, an upset dog got out after some fireworks were upsetting it. The dog returned only to return back with a severed hand. As 118 responded, they knocked on doors and searched for anyone with a missing hand. A teenager stole the cooler with the missing hand, making Eddie (Ryan Guzman) chase him down and discovered that the teen was missing a finger; hit was his friend in the car that was missing the hand. The teenagers were having a firework fight like that doesn’t sound dangerous. When the team found a finger, they realized it was a thumb and that meant there was another victim.

My Favorite and/or Least Favorite Part

Murder House; dispatch had been receiving phone calls with no one on the line. Dispatch sent the police over just to check it. The house is known to have ghosts in it as it’s the home of a triple homicide in the 60s. As police were checking it out, one of the officers got spooked and tripped causing him to hit his head. Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) were called out, and Chimney immediately had questions about the house. Chimney became obsessed with the house, wanting to know all the details about the house and what happened.

Chimney discovered the family had been killed in a car crash, and the mother had left the home the day after the funeral had taken place. The house has been empty ever since. Chimney has found the perfect home for him, Maddie, and Jee-Yun.

“Think of it as your average windy night. What’s the worst that can happen?” – Maddie Kendal (Jennifer Love Hewitt)

Even though it was a funny segment, it was not my favorite of the episode; the sleep-driving incident. A young adult female while sleepwalking drove a car into the fire station. Fortunately, no one was injured or anything was damaged during the slow drive into the bay. What made this incident funny was seeing four grown men freak out about seeing someone sleepwalk while nude. They managed to get the girl to the hospital to be checked out after Hen calmed her down.

Standout Moment

A fire breaks out in Hollywood Hills, the team is called out. Keeping the fire under control before it spread down the mountain, the team worked quickly to put it out and ensure the surrounding area was ember-free. Eddie discovered there was a body in the fire as Bobby (Peter Krause) realizes he recognizes the watch on the body as Windall (Maurice J. Irvin), his sponsor. A few hours prior Bobby had received a voicemail from Windall. Bobby wanted answers about what happened to Windall and figured out that he was checking into a rehab center. As Bobby looked into the rehab, he discovered the people who ran it were the same people who questioned him about the fire.

My Overall Thoughts on the Episode

I like how we got Bobby narrating at the beginning and the end of the episode, giving us more of an insight into Bobby which we haven’t seen since season 1. It was also interesting to see how Hen handled it when her son was asking about his biological mother, as the pair did not have the best relationship. Leaving us on a cliffhanger of Denny (Declan Pratt) knocking on his biological father’s door. We also got more Josh Russo (Bryan Safi) in this episode, he is one of my favorite dispatchers, and feel like we need more of him in the show. I feel like we got more of the characters in this episode and a little more character development and I honestly can’t wait for the spring return.

Be sure to check back for any updates on 9-1-1.
