WATCH | The Witcher: Blood Origin Trailer

It’s been a few weeks since season 2 of The Witcher dropped on Netflix, and those who made it through to the end of the season were treated to a trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin. If you didn’t make it through Season 2 yet (why not?), we have the prequel series trailer for you right here.

The Witcher: Blood Origin Synopsis

Every story has a beginning. Witness the untold history of the Continent with The Witcher: Blood Origin, a new prequel series set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of The Witcher. Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – exploring the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one. The Witcher: Blood Origin will release in 2022, only on Netflix.

Trailer Analysis

The trailer looks fantastic, with a lot of action and mysticism.  I had hoped for maybe a smidgen of dialogue though to give us a taste of these ancient Elves. I’m really intrigued to see the creation of the first Witcher, and how the Conjunction of the Spheres happened. Especially in light of some of the revelations in S2 of The Witcher. I’ve been a fan of Michelle Yeoh for a very long time and will gladly watch her kick ass whenever I can, so seeing her front and centre had me bouncing. I also looked carefully for a glimpse of FANdemonium Network fave Mark Rowley .  Alas he doesn’t appear in this trailer. Maybe we will get another trailer before the show drops and will see him in that.

UPDATES

We have an official poster AND release date thanks to Netflix’s TUDUM Global Fan event.

Yep, you’re reading that right. The Witcher: Blood Origin will land on Netfllix worldwide on December 25th  2022. Merry Christmas indeed!

Also confirmed is the fact that Minnie Driver will be joining The Witcher: Blood Origin as Seanchaí : (Shan-a-khee), who is, in her words “a shapeshifting collector of old lore with the abilities to travel between time and worlds. Very few of her kind remain. She brings long forgotten stories back to life when a world needs them most.”

I wonder if she will be narrating the story leading up to the Conjunction for a “present day” audience somewhere? We’ll have to wait and see.
