Tomodachi Game “Theres No Way I’d Believe That” Review

Tomodachi Game “Theres No Way I’d Believe That” is the third episode of the Tomodachi Game anime. Following the same game as in episode 2. The team slow down to talk everything out after Kokorogi’s secret that she used to accompany adult men on dates for money, is revealed. Meanwhile everyone has a breakdown over the revelation whilst Kokorogi swears she never did anything sexual, the group is falling to pieces. Fast.

Master Manipulator

I have to admit, all throughout Kokorogi’s explanation of her actions I just didn’t believe all of it. She’s always been suspicious in my eyes so of course I assumed she was just playing it down to look innocent or even putting on the whole crying thing to look innocent (whilst being the one who wrote it.) But I was shocked to see that the thief is not only revealed but the mastermind behind all the secrets coming out is too. For me it felt a little early to be revealing something like that but who knows what kind of curveball the show is going to throw next so it likely makes sense.

With the truth finally revealed a lot of the games are somehow going to seem more tense as the audience now know exactly what’s up. They even know the plan. Was it obvious that Tenji was up to something? Yes. Did I expect him to be behind everything, deliberately ripping apart the team cos he’s got the hots for Sawaragi still? Nope. He was always shady but not that shady. Plus the anime had me thinking way too deep when the answer was so flipping obvious, had to laugh at myself a bit.

Overall I will say the last 10-15 minutes of this episode are some of the strongest, as each character is introduced during the theft showing what they were doing at the time and the slow realisation of who it was the whole time is masterfully done.
