The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Yellow Sparrow” Review

The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Yellow Sparrow” is the fourth episode of the Idaten anime. This episode introduces yet another new character, Prontea, Ysley’s mentor. Along with setting up a match up between three heavy hitters of the Demon crew vs the Idaten youngsters.

Plot

The episode begins with Ysley having to trick Rin into letting him and Paula “look” for Prontea as she is determined to go to Zoble after hearing about the demons there in episode 3. She eventually agrees to let Ysley and Paula look for him as she keeps an eye on the human ships surrounding the island they’re on. Meanwhile, the demons are keeping an eye on her and planning another attack. Piscalat, Neput and Cory are sent to deal with the younger Idaten.

Ysley and Paula make their way with Paula carrying Hayato, to Hotaena, where Prontea is currently living. Having to keep a low profile amongst the humans. Prontea keeps humself busy with various hobbies. That he changes as soon as he becomes the best at them. It’s here that Prontea shows how terrified he is of Rin. Clearly she didn’t like his lax attitude towards training and punished him for it as he has a meltdown as soon as she’s mentioned. Ysley leaves with Nickel’s head to have it examined by the scientists he’s been in contact with. Whilst Hayato and Rin are left to train with Prontea.

Prontea shows off an amazing amount of skill whilst training the two, using magical abilities not seen before. Whilst Ysley finds out at the lab that demons have similar biology to humans, only much more resistant to poisons and other things. Whilst making his way back he’s lured into a trap by a human Piscalat forced to do her bidding. And the training gets interrupted by Neput and Cory. Cory is set against Hayato and Paula and Neput is taken on by Prontea.

Review

Whilst being an information heavy episode which is clearly meant to get to the showdown in episode 5. This is still an amazingly entertaining episode purely for Prontea and again Ysley. They’ve both become my favourite characters very quickly but it’s also nice to see that Ysley doesn’t seem to be doing anything shady. He’s just interested in the research. Something about him is definitely grey morally though, I like that, it makes him fascinating. I’m excited to see how the battles resolve themselves. Hayato and Paula are basically newbies but are strong and Ysley is trapped with Piscalat.

Best run up for an action packed episode so far!
