MacGyver 406: Right + Wrong + Both + Neither sees MacGyver and the team head to Moldova to save Russ’s old flame, and uncover another of Russ’s dirty secrets
Matty, Interrogated

After the photo of Matty(Meredith Eaton) from the soccer match, Russ’s(Henry Ian Cusick) paranoia comes through again. He is running a high tech lie detector test on Matty in a makeshift interrogation room. Matty is having none of it, and tells him as much. Outside the room, Bozer(Justin Hires) wonders if they should turn on the comms to listen in. MacGyver(Lucas Till) tells him that is a line that shouldn’t be crossed.
Riley Gets it Right

Frustrated that she can’t find anything to clear Matty, Riley(Tristin Mays) finally sees code type in another language she isn’t familiar with. Desi(Levy Tran) is-it’s Estonian, and with that, Riley and the team find that Phoenix has been hacked. Matty is, of course, innocent.
A Call From the Past
MacGyver will discuss anything-even plane food-to avoid discussing his relationship troubles.

MacGyver doesn’t want to talk about the kiss-cam that happened at the soccer game. It seems that Desi doesn’t want to, either. Russ starts to question their relationship. Suddenly, Russ receives an hours old message from a former love, Amelia(Amanda Schull). She is in danger from The Red Order, a terrorist group that Russ had dealt with before. We see in flashbacks that Russ and Amelia were serious, despite their jobs being very different.

Amelia is a doctor, and Russ kept supplying her with patients. He even proposed, but wanted her to leave her position. Russ diverts the plane to rescue her.

Things Don’t Look so Great in Moldava

Going to the now abandoned hospital, the team has a standoff with what is soon to be revealed as Amelia’s husband, Victor(Nick Rhys).

Amelia has indeed been kidnapped by The Red Order. He tells Russ that everyone is working at a plant in town, and that the current state of affairs is all Russ’s fault.
Russ Did It All Wrong

Breaking into the plant, the team finds that the “textile” factory is making IEDs, and the workers forced to make them are suffering chemical burns due to no training on how to safely mix and move the chemicals. They also find Amelia’s husband overseeing everything. But then the real leader, Anton(Maximilian Osinski), arrives and recognizes Russ-Russ had shot him, then had Amelia save him years earlier. Anton had no choice but to work at the factory to protect Amelia. Amelia had evidence of Anton’s terroristic ways she was going to present to the UN. Getting access to Anton’s compound, Russ’s secret is out: he paid The Red Order to leave.

Russ fools Anton into thinking he is still the unscrupulous jerk he was, and that he wants to buy weapons. Acting quickly, Desi cuts herself to trick Anton into letting them see Amelia.

Finding Amelia and Escaping
Amelia isn’t the only prisoner. Getting her out would be difficult enough, but there are five more hostages that will be killed without Amelia. Amelia is leverage; they are worthless to the terrorists. Amelia refuses to leave without them.
MacGyver makes an oscillator out of a truck speaker to break the wall, and gets everyone out.

He gives Desi an arc lighter to disable all of Anton’s vehicle’s onboard computers. Thankfully Desi saves one to transport everyone out. In the melee, Amelia gets shot in the shoulder.

Making A Stand

Meeting with Victor, MacGyver is reassured that Victor has what he asked for-a dozen or so of the illicit IEDs. Using the IEDs and with limited time, MacGyver uses them to block the roads with the workers’ help.

He makes non lethal steam grenades to knock out the terrorists. There is a SNAFU or two, but Phoenix saves the day.

Desi tells Russ that they have about 45 seconds of ammo. Russ leaves the safety of the trees to meet with Anton.

Russ gets to shoot, then beat the crap out of Anton, but realizes that killing him leaves the door open for worse. MacGyver realizes that Russ paid Anton off again, but realizes that dealing with the devil you know is easier than a new evil.
The Plane Home
MacGyver tells Russ that there is a new darkness that he can feel. He tells Russ that in this new world, people do the wrong thing for the right reason.
A Phone Call
After Bozer leaves, Matty makes a mysterious phone call to someone. She tells the digitally altered voice on the other end that she thinks that “she” is back. The voice tells her to come see him/her as soon as possible…
