Supergirl – Girl of Steel Review
‘Supergirl’ Is Losing Her Life and Purpose Review
Season 3 Episode 1
Supergirl – Girl of Steel starts off with what we have been all waiting for all summer, a Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) reunion…….only for it be a dream. Man, I think I miss him as much as Kara. In this dream we also get to see Kara’s mother, now played by Smallville‘s Lois Lane, Erica Durance. I am guessing this won’t be her only episode.
Sidenote: kinda love how they are bringing back all these other superhero show actors. I also read some where that Tom Welling was offered the job as SuperMan and he turned it down. Not sure if that is true or not but it makes me sad because I loved him on Smallville.
Now back to the episode! Let me be honest, I kinda hated this episode. Kara has shut off her human side now that she has lost Mon-El and she is pushing everyone away. She is still being SuperGirl and saving the day. She is just……kinda being bitchy. Hell she even quit her job at CatCo. She isn’t even helping her sister with her wedding plans. This is not the Kara we know and love. She is mean, cold, and distant. I believe she even refers to herself in the 3rd person, like Kara and SuperGirl are two different people. She is ALIEN and she is acting like it.
The city even made a “Girl of Steel” statue of her. By the looks of it, she wasn’t even happy or phased by it. It was sad. I guess the writers are trying to show a different side of her, but as a fan I don’t like it.
I almost feel like she needs a visit from her ever handsome cousin Clark. Maybe he could help bring her back.
I really hope that the next episode is better, I miss the old Kara. Please bring Mon-El back, so Kara can be happy again.
