Manifest : Deadhead Round Table Review

We are back with another round table review for Manifest Season 3 Episode 2 called Deadhead. Joining me (Rike) on this one is Mandy. Are you guys ready? Let’s do this!

Manifest: Deadhead Synopsis

A threat to the Stone family tests Michaela’s (Melissa Roxburgh) commitment to play by the rules and forces Grace (Athena Karkanis) to make a difficult decision. Ben (Josh Dallas) enlists the aid of an old rival to save an old friend. Olive (Luna Blaise) helps a new friend solve a calling.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: I agree with you Mandy. It was another good episode overall with some drama and obviously new “callings”. Seeing Olive helping Angelina (Holly Taylor) trying to solve and understand her “calling” was really nice. Looks like we got a new promising friendship right there. Still don’t know what’s going on with Zeke (Matt Long) though, but I guess we’ll find out more about him sooner or later. Anyways, I really enjoyed watching this one. No surprise here. Another great job from everyone being involved.

M: I really liked the episode. We finally got to meet someone on Grace’s side of the family which I was very excited about. The whole investigation of the meth heads was very fun to see with Michaela and Drea (Ellen Tamaki) in the car following them. I was pleased to see Jared (J.R. Ramirez) and Michaela being able to joke with one another again. Not to forget Zeke and Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) working together again and him feeling there’s something going on with Saanvi. I really like their friendship. So I enjoyed this episode a lot overall.

Michaela played by the book in her investigation of the three men. How long do you think will this last until she’s back doing it her own way?

M: It was such a new side of Michaela. One we haven’t seen yet, but I found it so funny to see. I wonder if she can keep it going like this for a long time but I do think she’s gonna try to follow the rules for a while at least. Since it’s hers and Kate Bowers’ their jobs on the line if she doesn’t play by the book.

R: I guess it’s a really tough one for her to play by the book. You already saw her struggling a bit when it was about the picture. Probably won’t last long until she’s back doing things her own way. Hopefully she won’t get fired one day. Fingers crossed for you Michaela.

Pete (Devin Harjes) and Angelina? What’s going on there?

M: It’s surely an interesting vibe. They seem to be connected to each other in a way. That scene with the photo is just the beginning of an interesting storyline with them. There’s an interview which we learned from that they apparently are going to become love interests of each other. So I am very curious to see how that will play out.

R: Damn! I didn’t know about that Mandy! Love interests? I guess there’s new drama incoming then. Is it going to be one of these “I already liked you since we went to preschool together” kind of thing? Guess we have to wait a few more episodes to find out. But it is interesting, even though I thought it would be a family relationship. That Angelina is his lost sister or something like that. Just something in my head.

What’s your first impression of Grace’s stepbrother Tarik (Warner Miller)?

R: Usually I don’t like new characters – or let’s say I need more time to get used to them. But with Tarik it’s different. I do understand the way he’s acting and talking to Grace. You can’t just forget about the past sometimes, even though they’re family. But I’m sure they’ll figure it out together. Maybe having a deep conversation about everything would help.

M: I like him! I really like this guy. Warner Miller is doing an excellent job of playing Tariq. There seems to be more about him we haven’t seen yet. So I am very curious to find more out about this guy. However I feel like there’s something shady about him but I really like him so far.

Do you think Ben did the right thing with trusting Powell (Tim Moriarty)? Or are there gonna be consequences?

R: I always had a bad feeling about Powell, but maybe this time he’s really helpful. Especially because it’s Vance we are talking about. He could really use some help right now, even if it’s Powell. He can be a bad guy again after Vance is safe, which is most likely going to happen. Maybe he’s just there for Ben so that he can use him later for whatever he’s planning to do.

M: Honestly I am a little anxious about that. There is something fishy about Powell. I definitely do not trust this guy but I wonder if there was any other way for them to get Vance back without Powell. Powell may or may not stir up some more things later in the season but I guess time will only tell. I think sometimes to get things done you need to work with ‘the enemy’. And I guess we’ll find out later in the season if Powell is one of the good guys or is one of ‘the enemies’.

Your final score for this episode:

M: I will give it an 8. It was a great episode.

R: Agree. A solid 8 this time.
