Manifest : Precious Cargo Round Table Review

We are back with another round table review for Manifest Season 3 Episode 7 called “Precious Cargo”. Joining me (Rike) on this one are Mandy and Anna Maria. Are you guys ready? Let’s do this!

Manifest: Precious Cargo Synopsis

Mick (Melissa Roxburgh) questions Ben’s (Josh Dallas) developing relationship with Eureka. A new adversarial group suspicious of Ben takes drastic measures to gain answers. Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) proves her worth through a scientific breakthrough. Angelina (Holly Taylor) reaches a breaking point.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

AM: It was a good episode, although hard to top last week. I prefer seeing Michaela and Ben cooperating, and seeing them argue and Ben hiding things for Michaela was a bit tough. It was also tough to see Angelina being so sad.

M: It was a fun episode. We got to see Drea (Ellen Tamaki) and Michaela working together since Drea found out about the callings and it was fun to see her dealing with what she now knows. It’s a bit odd seeing Jared (J.R. Ramirez) smiling this much though but it’s a good look on him. I however am a little scared for Angelina. How she was talking to Eden. I don’t know. It was weird.

R: Definitely another good one, even though you can’t compare it with last weeks emotional roller coaster. Like Mandy already said, I enjoyed watching Drea and Mick working together. Especially know that Drea knows about what’s really going on. On the other hand Angelina’s behavior scares me (also talking about Episode 8). Let’s see how this goes.

Anyone can sink the lifeboat. Your thoughts about this theory?

R:Terrifying. Definitely terrifying. They need to be extremely careful, especially after what already happened with some passengers. Every action has a consequence and not only for themselves but for everyone. Maybe they’ll find a way to figure it out so that everyone has their own little lifeboat. That would be fair, but I don’t know if the writers want it to be fair with this one.

M: It’s a hopeless task. There were 191 people on the plane. You can’t make sure that everyone follows the callings and doesn’t do anything stupid. There will always be someone who does something stupid. Heck, 2 people already did something that could have major consequences, Daly (Frank Deal) and Saanvi. Hopefully, what Rike said too, they’ll find a way to have their own lifeboat instead of having to share it with 191 other people.

AM: This is a scary theory. And it seems impossible to save the lifeboat, when there are so many passengers that can mess things up by not follow the callings. Hopefully there are some other sides to this theory, for example that smaller groups of passengers are connected or something like that.

Ben is stressed and feeling like he’s solely responsible for the passengers’ survival, but he’s getting dangerously controlling about the lifeboat thing. He seems to be close to his breaking point. Do you think he’s the one who’s going to sink their “lifeboat”?

M: He could definitely be the one who is going to sink their lifeboat. He’s been obsessing with trying to solve the death date and the callings while trying to make sure everyone is following the callings to survive. That’s a lot for 1 person to handle. Sometimes when you’re trying to solve something you don’t always see the consequences of that. He should take a deep breath.

AM: That would be ironic if it ends up being him. I really hope it is not him. He has worked so hard and invested so much in figuring things out. And I do not like his “cooperation” with Eagan (Ali Lopez-Sohaili) either. It is important to trust the right people, and I am not sure Eagan is one of them.

R:It’s not good if you throw yourself into something too much. You can’t think clearly. He should take some time to breathe and listen to the people around him, especially his family. Feels like he’s in his own little bubble and doesn’t want to hear another opinion. This is not healthy Ben. Come on. Let’s try it with some team effort. Trust the right people!

Drea and Mick working together on a case connected to a calling after Drea found out about the callings. Your opinion?

AM: That was fun to see. I like how she is now updated about the callings, and are really acting all cool about it as well. It is nice to see how an outsider reacts to the craziness.

R:I really do like the fact that Drea seems to be okay with all of it. Or at least she’s acting like all of this is super normal and not completely strange at all. Being like “Oh, you’ve got a calling? Okay. What is it?”. It’s important that she’s there for her as a friend and working partner. Also, she’s super smart. Love it.

M: I loved it. It was so funny to see her reaction to Michaela having a calling. It’s good that she knows now because if you know the whole picture you can help someone else better than not knowing the whole picture. I am excited to see more of them possibly working together to solve a calling. I am glad Michaela has someone she can confide in.

Sarah (Lauren Norvelle) and Jared dating. Is she going to be the right one for him?

R: My Zekaela heart is pretty much happy with it, even though it probably won’t last long. On the other hand Sarah is still the major’s daughter and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, right? She might act all good and innocent, but who knows? Maybe she has something to hide. Maybe she’s just trying to use Jared for whatever reason. Poor guy.

M: They had their cute moments, but it won’t last. Despite their cute moments I also feel like they’re kind of being forced and that makes it awkward. However, I love seeing Jared smile this much. It’s something we’re not used to seeing of him. I still don’t trust Sarah either. After all she’s the major’s daughter and it’s going to cause trouble.

AM: Definitely not. There wasn’t really any kind of build up between those two, and my Jachaela heart could never accept it anyway. And as Rike and Mandy points out, there might be something up with Sarah also.

Your final score for this episode:

M: I will give it an 7,5.

AM: I’ll give it a 7.

R: A solid 7 for this one.
