MacGyver 508: SOS + Hazmat + Ultrasound + Frequency + Malihini

In MacGyver 508: SOS + Hazmat + Ultrasound + Frequency + Malihini: Bozer and Russ infiltrate a codex cell with a familiar face from Hawaii Five-0. MacGyver, Riley, and Desi help Matty’s former mentor when an unknown and deadly illness overtakes him and his staff.

Aloha, Jerry Ortega
Jerry is the malihini in this case.

Jerry Ortega(Jorge Garcia), formerly of Hawaii Five-0, has infiltrated Codex, and has come to Phoenix for help. He remembered MacGyver(Lucas Till) and Jack(George Eads) when they helped out after an earthquake. Russ(Henry Ian Cusick) immediately bonds(could it have anything to do with both actors being on Lost, hmmmm?) with him, and convinces him to go undercover. Bozer(Justin Hires) and Russ supply backup.
Just two good looking men being good looking backup.

Pressing Matters for Matty
Matty(Meredith Eaton) pulls MacGyver, Riley(Tristin Mays), and Desi(Levy Tran) from the Codex mission. When questioned, she tells the trio that her mentor, Ian Cain(Robert Patrick) and his team in Slovenia have been poisoned by something. She needs their help to find Ian and save him(another reunion, as Lucas and Patrick were both in Walk the Line).
The group flies to the building, and find Ian in a hidden office. Testing the food and air, Mac finds nothing.
Hazmat Doesn’t Help
While in Hazmat suits, both Desi and Mac get nosebleeds and headaches. Mac knows that shouldn’t and couldn’t happen with a biological agent.
Undercover Blown
The Codex members think Jerry is too well dressed for the character he is pretending to be, and begin to chop off his thumb. Russ and Bozer come in and neutralize the Codex members, and take Jerry away.
Sound As a Weapon
Mac calls Riley and has her survey around the building, and she finds a suspicious van. Their call breaks up, and Mac realizes that the enemy is using sound. Questioning Ian, he remembers such a weapon being worked on but never completed. Realizing the weapon has been perfected, Mac tracks them with a makeshift device using ultrasound equipment from an obstetrician.
They stop the bad guys, and Matty has a heart to heart with Ian, telling him to be careful.
Taking the Bus
Jerry leaves by bus, dropping a few more conspiracy theories before leaving Russ and Bozer with a flash drive he lifted from Codex.
The flash drive gives Russ bad news: Codex has put out the call to everyone, and no one can be trusted.
