Game of Thrones – Looking Back with Ian Gelder

Game of Thrones – Looking Back with Ian Gelder

In the latest of our series of mini-interviews with Game of Thrones cast members, we spoke to Ian Gelder. Gelder played Kevan Lannister, brother to the evil Tywin and Hand of the King, in the first 6 seasons of the show. He’s also known for his role in Torchwood: Children of Earth.

FN: What was your favourite moment for your character?

Ian: Putting Cersei in her place in Series 5  – “ You are the Queen Mother. Nothing else”.

FN: What is your favourite moment of the series so far?

Ian: Arya killing the Freys by poison in revenge for Rob and Catelyns’ deaths at the Red Wedding.

FN: Did you know while filming how your character’s story would tie in to the larger plot overall?

Ian: Roughly speaking yes. But the scripts moved in a different direction from the books. I preferred Kevan’s death in the books by Varys rather than being part of the mass killing in series 6 courtesy of Cersei!

FN: Who do you think will sit the Iron Throne at the end of the show?

Ian: Anyones’ guess. Haven’t started watching series 8 yet so I hope Arya if she’s still alive!

We’d like to thank Ian Gelder for taking the time to answer our questions, and hope he gets to watch Season 8 soon! Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
