In the second of our series of mini interviews with Game of Thrones stars we spoke to Roger Ashton-Griffiths. Roger played Mace Tyrell from season 4 to season 6.
FN: What was your favourite moment for your character?
Hard to say, probably riding in front of my army. We were shooting in beautiful Girona, Benz was steady and comfortable, and the guys playing soldiers were brilliantly-trained, fantastic people.
FN: What has been your favourite moment of the series so far?
Too many to choose, but I thought Jon Snow’s recent first dragon ride was hilarious!
FN: Did you know while filming how your character’s story would tie in to the larger plot overall?
No, not in the slightest, beyond the obvious fact that it wasn’t going to be Mace on the throne at the end.
FN: Who do you think will sit the Iron Throne in the end?
I think they’ll ALL BE DEAD, civilisation will be reduced to the stone age and take millennia to develop into the Classical world we know. Westeros will then be remembered only in myth, where it will be known as Atlantis.
FN: WOW! Now that’s an interesting answer, not a theory I’ve ever heard before!
Huge thanks to Roger Ashton-Griffiths for taking the time to answer our questions. Roger does attend lots of conventions all over the world. If you’d like to see him at your local convention make sure you let them know!
