Cult Of The Lamb Review
If you looked up the word addictive in the dictionary you’d find Cult Of The Lamb as a potential example. This game is a perfect example of what can happen when you do everything perfectly, not by the book, but perfectly. Every aspect of this game is seamlessly amazing, the developers at Massive Monster Studios have clearly painstakingly perfected even the smallest of details and left nothing to chance and it shows.
Lamb Chops With Attitude
The game is a relatively simple one. You play as a lamb, apparently the last of his kind, sacrificed to the Old Gods, upon death he is greeted by “The One Who Waits” who brings him back to life with the provision that he start a Cult, collect followers, and kill the heads of the Old God’s religion so that his chains may be broken. A wining formula if ever I heard it.
You go through life fighting several bosses recruiting or gathering resources along the way, having souls-like gameplay it’s likely you’ll replay the same place again in which you can make new choices. Whilst not doing that you’ll be having to oversee your flock. Make sure they’re fed, read them sermons, participate in rituals and keep them healthy and the area clean. Oh and my personal favourite; kill anyone who decides to become a non believer! Obviously whist everyone is asleep of course, you don’t wanna get caught. I had a blast playing through this game and still am now, I originally played it on Nintendo Switch and have subsequently bought it on PC too so I can play it there too. The game and it’s mechanics, it’s story too , just grab you from the moment you start playing and don’t even let go when you stop, even when I wasn’t playing it I was plotting the fate of my current followers in my temple. Did I get a bit power hungry? Yes but that’s half the fun, running a cult and deciding if you wanna choose peace or war.
I love Cult Of The Lamb and think it’s definitely up there for best game of the year. If you haven’t played it yet, please do, it’s worth every second of your time whilst leaving you with a unique experience you can’t quite get rid of.
