Two Point Campus Review – A Fun Simulation Game But That’s All

You’d think that, as a person who generally hates simulation games, Two Point Campus would make me want to gouge my eyes out before even considering playing it but quite the opposite, it looked like a lot of fun, oh how wrong I was. Two Point Studios, the same company that made Two Point Hospital’s latest release, Campus is clearly striving to be unique enough to be notable but not so unique it loses the touch of what made Hospital so beloved.

Playing Around On Campus

Whilst it’s fun having full control of a university campus, that fun quickly dries up if you don’t already love these kinds of games. As a business sim it works and it works well but you need to know that’s the kind of game you’ll be playing because for me it was just a whole lot of nothing. Did I have fun with it? Yes, especially with the things like making sure people’s personalities don’t clash too much and cost me money with failed students. Do I like it enough to seek it out above other games? Not a chance in hell. The main entertainment for my own personal playthrough came from making sure I didn’t go bankrupt and then actually trying to go bankrupt when I got bored of the same old thing again.

Games are meant to be played, meant to be an experience, something to enjoy because they’re fun and whilst Two Point Campus wasn’t fun for me, I can’t ignore the fact that the fun factor is there. This isn’t a game for me personally but I think those who like things like Rollercoaster Tycoon and Minecraft will love it.

In which case, I won’t recommend this game to anyone, if I had to I’d probably recommend Hospital to them instead as that at least felt like it had stakes.
