The Case Study Of Vanitas “Snow Flower” Review
The Case Study Of Vanitas “Snow Flower” is the nineteenth episode of the Vanitas anime. And this episode follows the fallout from the battle in episode 18. With Chloe’s existence at risk. All is to play for.
Chloe and Jean Jacques
With Chloe so deep within the hold of her despair. Vanitas can’t do much to help her. In reality it’s Jean Jacques and Jeanne that remind her what she really cares about. Chloe is saved by rejecting the Malady outright by her own will. So no issues there then. Again no issues at all when Jean Jacques asks Vanitas to give him his true name back so he can stop being the beast. And thus in one fell swoop 5 episodes of build up have been resolved by “just believe in yourself.” Not a single death, nothing to hold anyone accountable for what happened.
The only real looming threat that’s consistently brought up is the church and how they’ll likely always be after Chloe. And it’s likely they’re behind a lot of shady stuff too. It’s also heavily implied that using the Blue Moon’s power is slowly killing Vanitas. But knowing this show’s previous record of setting things up just to find some random BS loophole so no-one has to sacrifice anything. I’m not exactly hopeful that those arcs will be anything mind-blowing either.
I do want to find out the secret but at this point I’m more likely to just google it and find out than struggle through a whole load of nothing again. The episode was fine. As are they all. Not good, not bad, just follows the same boring formula that never really holds any weight.
