Nintendo Switch Online New Missions And Rewards
Finally we can all customize our Nintendo Switch icon! From time immemorial lots of Switch fans have lamented the lack of choice when it comes to profile icons. Nintendo seems to be looking to give the fans what they want. As long as certain conditions are met of course.
Platinum Points and Missions
As per this new update. Nintendo have added the option to gain Platinum points for doing things such as playing an online game (like Tetris 99) or playing an NES game from it’s updated online selection. Whilst that’s what you can do on the actual switch. Getting Platinum Points can be done outside of the Switch by playing official Nintendo games such as Super Mario Run or Fire Emblem Heroes. Easiest one is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp though. Farming platinum points on that game is as simple as doing a daily task. And all of it free! Well except for the Nintendo Online charge but it’s still a good sign.
The Platinum Points can be exchanged for rewards such as new icons, backgrounds and frames. With each collection being refreshed every week and each game collection changing every month. So for now we have Super Mario Odyssey and Animal Crossing New Horizons with an emphasis on Animal Crossing characters who were born in March. Next month will feature new games. But the icons will change next week so if you wanna get them all then it’s time to grind for platinum points!
I will admit, there is a slight gatcha element to it but seeing as the games you play to get the points are free and the things to do on the Switch is free I don’t see a massive issue with it. Of course, it’s a ways away from what people were begging for but it’s still a lot of fun.
