Superman and Lois “Bizarros in a Bizarro World” Roundtable

We are back again for another roundtable review of Superman and Lois “Bizarros in a Bizzaro World”. Let’s get into it.  This roundtable does contain spoilers, so proceed at your own risk!

Superman and Lois “Bizarros in a Bizarro World” Synopsis

Superman (Tyler Hoechlin)  races through the portal after Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt) but when he arrives on the other side, he discovers everything on this parallel earth is bizarre; Superman goes on one wild ride in his fight to stop Ally from merging.

This episode pretty much opens up where we left off, with Superman flying through the portal to the Bizarro World. Even though he did have a few injuries upon entry he still was able to heal himself which is good. Superman lands in Bizarro and the first person he comes in contact with is Bizarro Jonathan (Jordan Elsass). Bizarro Jonathan has powers and he can fly. He seems a little off and really all this bizarro world is off. It looks so broken down. Like a war has already happened. What do you think of Jonathan and this Bizarro world?

P: I guess everything really is opposite of the real world. I guess Jonathan has powers because in the real world Jordan does. Also their weird red sky and sun.  This Jonathan is really cocky and kinda rude. He just seems off today. As far as the world I kinda like how everything is backwards or square even the steering wheels are on the right side and not the left.  The square pool table was my favorite by far.

C: I really liked Bizarro World. Seeing a Square red Sun and Square Earth was so weird at first, but by the time we got to the square pool balls I was like “yep, checks out!”  Also, leather pants wearing, guyliner sporting Jonathan is quite pleasing.

Bizarro Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) shows up and instead of a happy reunion, Jonathan is a total dick to his mom. And cue flashback scene. And guess who Jonathan met before all of this went wrong??? Ally. Did you see that coming?

C:  The Flashback of Jonathan becoming “Jon-El” was cool, but of COURSE he met Ally and got converted to her brand of crazy. It totally made sense given how abandoned he felt by Kal in Bizarro world.

P:  Of course Ally is behind all this craziness. I am not shocked at all. It’s funny that they are always worried about people with superpowers and what they should really be worried about is the people with the power of persuasion. Ally talks a big game and everyone who is either scared and easily led, listens to her.

Superman and Lois -Bizarros in a Bizarro World

We get a few more flashback scenes where we fall out of the Bizarro family. Basically Superman and Jonathan become more celebrities than superheroes. What did you think of Superman and Bizarro Lois’s break-up scene?

P: I was a little in shock of how Superman lost his cool and set the barn on fire. I do not like this world at all. I hate seeing Superman being so damn mean.

C: I actually thought it was really cool. Clark/Superman in our world is always so restrained, even when he gets mad at the boys or whatever he keeps his cool. To see Kal/Bizarro letting his emotions out was scary but awesome.

Superman and Lois -Bizarros in a Bizarro World

This episode jumps around a lot and we get a few different back stories besides Lois and Superman. We even get to see Tal-Rho (Adam Rayner) again and he is married to Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui). Tal-Rho and Clark are friends. How did you feel about this whole Tal-Rho story line?

C:  I really liked it. Seeing him and Kal being actual brothers was awesome. And I really liked that he realised he was wrong at the end. But can we PLEASE talk about goth af Lana wearing a black dress and New Rock boots to her wedding?!  I want more of that Lana please!

P: I think I liked it a lot. I love seeing him and Clark be brothers. And he comes to Clark’s rescue in the end and I really loved that.

General Anderson (Ian Bohen) survived the jump into the bizarro world but only to be speaking backwards and instantly see his other self be burned alive as they almost merged. But this somehow has helped him realize that what Ally was doing is wrong. He ends up helping Superman and sadly giving his life.  Thoughts on this?

Superman and Lois -Bizarros in a Bizarro World

P: I honestly was hoping he would have pulled through and lived. I thought it was a little sad to see him die.

C: I am gutted. I have really enjoyed seeing Ian and Tyler back on screen together this season, made my little Wolfie heart happy. I was glad to see Anderson redeem himself somewhat though by taking Superman’s side and trying to help him fight Ally and her squad.

So Ally finally did it, she merged with her other self. How do you think this will change things going forward? Do you think more people will merge?

C:  I’m torn on this. I don’t know if Clark can get back to his own world in time to stop Bizarro Jon from merging with our one. However, I wonder if that does happen, and if it happens in the normal world, if the “good” Jonathan will win out, get powers and not be an asshole?

P: I think a few more would want to try but only if Superman gets back to Jonathan in time before they merge. But the way we hear Lois scream I don’t think he is gonna make it.
