Spy X Family “The Prestigious Schools Interview” Review

Spy X Family “The Prestigious Schools Interview” is the fourth episode of the Spy X Family anime. Following the somewhat disastrous practice run in episode 3. The family are ready for the interview, or at least as ready as they can be. The school immediately starts the exam by watching how people walk to the interview, Eden College goes to ridiculous lengths to find out who’s unworthy to be there. Including having a small child pretend to fall down the gutter for extra credits to see how the families deal with it. After the exam, which reduces Anya to tears (well, Mr. Swan does.) Loid has zero hopes of passing but Anya and Yor make him feel better.

An Adorable And Elegant Family

This episode was amazingly wholesome and hilarious as all the other have been before it. Honestly I never thought they’d be able to top the family outing last episode but they have. Yor’s protectiveness of Anya which is clearly earnest seems to have passed on to Loid because even he loses his composure when Anya is picked on by Mr. Swan. He’s a professional through and through but he loses it and it’s showing he, underneath it all, cares about his new family. Probably because in the back of his mind he knows he’s finally got what he always wanted.

Anya seems to just naturally bring out the best in Yor but it’s hilarious to me that she’s slipped up several times in front of Loid and Anya but Loid thinks nothing of it and Anya only knows what she is because she often thinks about it. This episode was so well done, with masterful characterisation, even I felt for Anya and wanted to smack the crap out of the Swan guy when I saw her start to sob.

I can’t wait for next week to see the family start their new lives with Anya hopefully accepted into school.
