More story would’ve been great…

I have to say I was a little disappointed about this episode. When an episode of an hour-long serialized show ends and the plot has just barely pushed forward and you haven’t learned much more about the characters or world, that’s just a little disappointing for a show like this.

The Lord of the Rings in general has been a world that takes time to tell the story but Episode 4 was just a little too slow in my opinion.

In this weeks episode the Harfoots aren’t showing up so we are back to Khazad-dûm. Elrond has grown a little suspicious that Prince Durin and Princess Disa are hiding something from him. As we know Elrond is amazing in everything he’s doing, he does a little lip reading and finds out something.

Turns out what they’re hiding is the discovery of mithril, the remarkable metal that every Lord of the Rings fan knows, will be used to force the armor Bilbo and Frodo wear in the movies. What I truly enjoyed was Disa‘s song to the stone – I think we will learn a lot more from or of her.

Númenor

The new plots we see in Númenor are focusing on Isildur’s sister, Earien but we don’t really findest much and for me they focused a little too much on her. Not much more to say about Isildur and his sister for now.

Galadriel calling out the queen regent, getting her into jail next to Halbrand was kinda amusing. Their relationship continues to be charming and way too much fun.

The Southlands

That was probably the weakest part of this episode. I have to say that I don’t really know what to think about Adar at the moment. On the one hand he’s that talented and bad ass elf and on the other hand it seems that he doesn’t really know what he’s doing.

To be honest I was hoping for a little more in this episode. We’ve got 4 different storylines on the show so far but there are just too many characters to get them all into the whole storyline in an interesting way.

The show should probably try and focus on a few characters instead of each and everyone. Because it just gets a little boring to learn only a few pieces about all the characters.

But we desperately need some movement on the major storylines of this season. We still want and need to know who the Stranger is. What is Adar’s plan or his intention in the story? And when will THE RINGS be a thing? We are already halfway through season 1 so lets hope that at least some of those questions will be answered soon.
