Manifest : Tailfin Round Table Review

After one year, which felt like an eternity, we finally have Manifest back on our screen and this first episode (“Tailfin”) of the new season left some of us speechless and with even more question than answers. That’s why we decided to do a round table review for this one, including me (Rike), Mandy and Amelia. But that’s not all – if you love the cast of Manifest and would like to meet them virtually there might be a surprise for you in the end.

Manifest: Tailfin Synopsis

Ben (Josh Dallas) heads on an international mission with Vance (Daryl Edwards) to seek a clue that may finally unlock the mystery of Flight 828. An intense calling leads Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) and Zeke (Matt Long) on an adventure. Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) attempts to forget her past sins.

Your opinions about this first episode in general?

M: It was a great start of season 3. I am thrilled with having everyone back on my screen. This episode did not disappoint. It was truly worth the year wait. Also Ben on Cuba and Michaela on the beach is a good look.

A: That episode was WILD. I am so happy to have them all back. The first minutes were cute and then it all went so fast. A lot happened in that episode and I’m very looking forward to see what’s next.

R: What a way to kick off with Season 3. I really enjoyed watching this episode and having all my favorite people back on my screen. Can’t wait for what’s to come after watching the last scene, knowing we’ll have these three guys back after all.

Josh Dallas speaking Spanish – big yes or a hell no?

A: YES! I didn’t even know he could speak Spanish but this man never fails to amaze me.

R: That’s one big YES for me! I didn’t know I needed that, but when he started talking… I wish he wouldn’t switch back after all. How’s he so good at it?

M: A BIG YES! It was a very sexy look. I was so surprised to hear him talking in Spanish, but at the same time it was fun to discover another one of Ben’s skills

What’s going on with the tailfin and Ben being flung away?

R: That’s probably one of the big unsolved questions and we have to wait and see. I guess, maybe all of the passengers are still kind of connected to the plane. They all share like the same energy and that’s why Ben was being pushed away immediately.

M: Honestly I have no idea. But it’s all connected. They’re probably connected to one another. Although maybe the tailfin belongs to another ‘version’ of Ben. Since this Ben came back with the plane that landed. And the tailfin belongs to the plane that exploded. So maybe that tailfin belongs to the Ben that was on that plane? I have no idea. I need to see more episodes first before I can understand any of it. Which I probably won’t for a very long time haha.

A: I literally don’t know. I’m used to end an episode with more questions than i started with. This show is sooo good but also so confusing I wish they could just give us the answers but then it wouldn’t be worth watching lol. But I agree with Mandy, since they might have died on that flight, the actual Ben doesn’t belong to that plane if that makes sense.

Your thought on the new character Angelina Meyer (Holly Taylor) so far? What’s going to be her role in this season?

M: Protect Angelina at all costs and somebody please give this poor girl a hug. She’s been through a lot and probably had to go through all that by herself. I feel for her. I think the Stones may help her open up a little more and help her accept and figuring out the callings.

A: I was so happy to meet Angelina and I can’t wait to see what her storyline is gonna be. We know how hard she’s struggled in the past and I feel like maybe Michaela is gonna take care of her or just the Stones in general are gonna be her new family. I’d love to see Angelina and Olive (Luna Blaise) as good friends!

R: We don’t know a lot about her so far, besides the fact that she’s pretty damn scared now after being locked up for quite some time. Hopefully the Stone’s and everyone else will be able to make her feel safe again. She doesn’t have to fight these callings all alone. They’re gonna help each other. Maybe she’s another piece of the puzzle. Helping to finally solve this whole mystery.

How do you think Saanvi is dealing with her trauma this season?

A: Baby Saanvi. I felt so bad when she was crying. I remember the Major (Elizabeth Marvel) telling her ‘there is more going on with you than you are sharing. She’s probably keeping a secret or something like this. She needs help and I really hope she’s gonna ask for it. She shouldn’t fight all by herself. I really hope she’s gonna find someone she can trust.

R: I really hope that she’ll ask for support and won’t isolate herself from everyone else. She needs her friends now, more than anything. But this will take some time – to accept what has happened and to learn to live with it. It’s going to be tough, but I do believe she can get through all of this. Hopefully.

M: Poor Saanvi. I felt so sorry for her and I just wanted to hug her in that moment when she was sitting all alone by herself crying. I hope she’ll find someone she trusts to confide in. I can imagine she’s having a hard time trusting someone outside of their group, after what happened last season. I think Vance may be someone she’s able to trust though and maybe she will confide in him and hopefully Vance is able to help her deal with her trauma.

The three bad guys are back!!! What do you think they’re up to? How do you think they survived all of this?

R: I don’t want to say it but “Here we go again”. Hopefully this time the Stones will make them appear once and for all. I don’t want them to come for anyone again. It’s already bad enough with everything going on. Maybe they survived all of this because Zeke somehow managed to fight his death date and all this light afterwards… even though that happened some time ago now. I really don’t have a clue why they’re back now, but I pretty sure don’t like it at all!!

M: Honestly this takes me back to season 1, when we met James Griffin (Marc Menchaca). Maybe these guys are gonna use the callings for bad as well, like James Griffin did. But if they came back after 3 months, they will have a 3 month death date right. So hopefully they’ll be gone after that. But there’s still something that bugs me about them after season 2. When Michaela had the calling to ‘’let them go’’ and she didn’t. One of those guys seemed to know something. Hopefully we’ll get an answer to that this season.

A: Honestly I am so bad at theories and this ending got me shocked. But they’re probably gonna have a death date as well bc that’s always how it words. Except for Zeke apparently. That’s why I literally don’t know why they’re back and what’s gonna happen but the Stones are probably gonna make them disappear let’s hope.

Your final score for this episode:

A: I’d give a 9 because i absolutely enjoyed this episode but I still have so many questions! And i wanna see Drea more! (Can I give it a 10 just for Michaela’s dress?)

R: Let’s start with a solid 8! Well done!

M: I’ll give it a 9. With all the cinematic shots in Cuba, Zekaela’s honeymoon and all the family Stone moments made this a beautiful episode to watch.
