‘Kiss The Ground’ Review

‘Kiss The Ground’ is a new Netflix documentary that throws a different perspective to climate change problems. It’s a project that took years to film and create, it was finally launched on Netflix last September 22nd 2020.

Synopsis

A revolutionary group of activists, scientists, farmers, and politicians band together in a global movement of “Regenerative Agriculture” that could balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies and feed the world.

Overview

The documentary starts with a little introduction by Woody Harrelson. People from all over the world show and explain how agriculture works and easy ways to revert climate change’s impact. They begin showing us carbon’s role in all this mess, how important it is. In addition to this, they explain the effects of pesticides and the historical context of all this. Thereafter, they get into the political side of the story. They talk about different Climate Summits and how many countries committed to take drastic measures.

After these explanations, they proceed to show us real testimonies of farmers from different countries. Even though it may seem a very complicated thing to understand, they make it look the easiest thing. They manage to explain the most important concepts and what needs to be changed in a very understandable way.

Ian Somerhalder in ‘Kiss The Ground’

If you’ve read a little bit about Ian Somerhalder, you’ll already know how passionate he is about the environment and animals. He wanted to explore and understand how the soil and animals work. Therefore, In 2013, he flew to Africa with Allan Savory. He could witness the difference between desertification and regeneration.

He emphasises the need of people’s awareness and the urgency of actual measures to get our Eden garden back.

‘Kiss The Ground’ Review

This documentary is a masterpiece. I find it very interesting and important, since it taught me a lot of essential things I didn’t know. I always thought it was very difficult to stop climate change, but this documentary showed me it’s actually very simple and affordable! Also the format is very catchy and captivating.

Despite the fact Ian is an actor and isn’t an expert in soil and biological stuff, I love how passionate he was about being conscious and how he educated himself on the matter. I think it’s very important for people who have a very large audience to use their voice wisely.

I hope Kiss The Ground is shown in every school!
