First the Penguins hand the Islanders their first loss of the season with a 3-1 win. The Pens recorded two power play goals and an empty netter, courtesy of Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist. Sidney Crosby also recorded his 500th career NHL assist. Could our night have gotten any better? I don’t think so! Here are the highlights in case you missed the game.

Let’s talk about Sid a bit more. I can’t say enough praise for our captian. Congrats Sid! Captain Sidney Crosby recorded his 500th NHL assist tonight. Crosby is now the sixth-fastest player in +NHL history to reach 500 assists (only behind Gretzky, Lemieux, Stastny, Orr, and Forsberg). That’s some fantastic company wouldn’t you say?
And to do it at home. It was an awesome way to spend a Saturday night in ‘da Burgh!
