Outlander fans, if you’re curious about what will happen in the upcoming second season, check out our list of the five most shocking spoilers from Diana Gabaldon’s novel Dragonfly In Amber.

  1. Black Jack Randall Isn’t Frank’s Direct Ancestor – One of the more shocking revelations from Dragonfly In Amber is that Black Jack isn’t Frank’s ancestor at all. It’s actually Alexander Randall, Black Jack’s younger brother, who had an affair with a woman named Mary Hawkins before he died.Alex Randall didn’t want the love of his life to have her reputation ruined, so he had Black Jack promise to marry Mary. That way, his future child would be seen as legitimate and no one would know the truth about the baby’s real parentage.
  2. Claire Has A Miscarriage – If Outlander Season 1.5 follows the novels, then Claire will tell Jamie that she’s pregnant. Sadly, while in France, she winds up having a miscarriage. Losing their first child drives a wedge between the couple for the first time ever
  3. Jamie Murders Dougal – After overhearing Jamie and Claire discussing the possibility of assassinating Charles Stuart to prevent the battle of Culloden from ever happening, Dougal MacKenzie accuses the latter of using witchcraft and her feminine wiles to turn her husband away from his own people.Dougal attempts to kill Claire but Jamie stabs him and the war-chief of Clan MacKenzie dies in his nephew’s arms.
  4. Claire Returns To Her Own Time – After Dougal’s death, Jamie has no choice but to fight for the Stuarts. However, once he sees that the Rising won’t end with a Scottish victory, he tells Claire that he knows she’s pregnant again and that he wants her to return to her own time so she’ll be safe.Before the battle of Culloden, Jamie brings Claire to the stones at Craig na Dun and urges her to travel back to her own time. Once she’s gone, he returns to Culloden with the intent to be killed in battle.

Meet Brianna, The Daughter Of Claire And Jamie – In 1968, Claire and her daughter Brianna return to Scotland because the former believes that it is high time that the latter learn the truth about her parentage.Frank passed away a few years ago, and they enlist the help of Rodger Wakefield to learn the truth about what happened to Jamie after Culloden.Also, Rodger and Brianna wind up learning the truth about the stones of Craig na Dun and it’s revealed that the former is the descendent of Geillis Duncan.Since Geillis went back in time in 1968, Claire is able to track her down and the three of them watch as she murders her husband and uses the stones to travel through time.Rodger and Brianna finally realize that Claire is telling the truth, and they promise to help her figure out if Jamie died in battle or if he managed to survive the slaughter at Culloden Field.
