Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo Goes Live

Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo Goes Live – And it’s amazing!

The demo for Final Fantasy VII Remake went live in the PSN store this morning. Just after allowing fans to have a hands on themselves at PAX East during the weekend, Square Enix have now released the demo for everyone to download for everyone.

The demo, which is fairly short (understandably so.) Allows players to play through the first part of the game. Blowing up the Mako Reactor and fighting the first boss of the game, the Scorpion.

Not only does the demo give players a good idea of how the game will utilize it’s control system (especially the battle mechanics) but it also gives a sneak peek into the extraordinarily breath taking graphics.

The same demo?

I can’t say I honestly noticed much or any changes from the original demo that was uploaded around a year ago. The interface seems cleaner but that’s about it.

With that being said, I do believe the actual game will be different from what we see here. The demo is beautiful and fun and I was hooked the moment I got on it. But the actual game will almost certainly be slightly different. Only slightly, I can’t think of anything they’d want to change. Though I did run into a few lag issues whilst switching characters, it took a while for me to input instructions as the new character, the game didn’t keep up too well but that was only noticeable during the high pressure boss fight. Generally it was fine.

The demo has solidified it for me. If this wasn’t going to be the best game of the year, I don’t know what will. The controls are smooth and the battle is a fascinating cross between live action and turn based. You can’t just run in and hack, you need to apply tactics and use the right character for the job.

It’s challenging and fun and keeps you on your toes the whole way through. Plus, hearing the characters interact for the first time with voices makes my heart swell.

I’m a massive FFVII fan and always have been since I first got a PS1. The fact that not only is it coming back but coming back in such style is huge for me.

Square could’ve rushed this and still made a huge amount of money off of the brand alone. This simple demo shows that this isn’t the case. They’ve treated it with love, care and respect and I think fans like myself are going to be very happy with the full version.
