Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro “Senpai’s Such A Closeted Perv” Review

Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro “Senpai’s Such A Closeted Perv” is the ninth episode of the Nagatoro anime. Following the massive leap their relationship took in episode 8 Nagatoro and Senpai are back to usual. Kinda. He’s pretty much been accepted into their friendship group and Nagatoro is showing her jealous side alot more.

A closeted perv or a vegetarian?

The first half of the episode sees Nagatoro shadow boxing as Senpai draws. She asks him to be her sparring partner but that turns out to be a big mistake. As Senpai falls and accidentally lands on Nagatoro. She relays this story to Gamo, Yoshi and Sakura. Who all then start saying they want a clinch from Senpai. Sending Nagatoro off the rails.

Another day and Senpai is looking forward to going to the art room for relaxation. Unfortunately he finds Nagatoro and co. have holed themselves up in there for their lunch break. He asks why and they explain that there was a bunch of loud boys playing video games that disturbed them. Instead of telling them to shut up they sent Sakura in to flirt with all of them, knowing that eventually it’d tear them all apart.

That’s when Gamo says that there’s no issue with Senpai though as he’s totally a vegetarian man (a guy who is too shy to talk to girls and has no libido at all.) Nagatoro defends him by saying he’s a total perv and a game begins: find Senpai’s secret stash of dirty magazines. If Nagatoro finds them she wins if there are none Gamo wins. Seeing Nagatoro have a hard time finding his erotic manga because it’s in the store room. He sneaks out, grabs it and puts in in a super obvious place so she does find it. Nagatoro wins! With the help of Senpai.

The Date

The next day after school Sakura mentions that one of the boys she asked out has now become a stalker. She asks Senpai to pretend to go on a date with her and be her boyfriend so he’ll back off. He begins by saying no way as she got herself in the situation. Plus Nagatoro is practically hitting the roof at this point but he gives in and helps her.

The next day they go on a date and Senpai is awkward as hell the whole time. Whilst Gamo and Yoshi tape his awkwardness Nagatoro is with them practically ready to kill Sakura. Sakura does hint during the date that there’s someone he wants to be on a date with but he brushes it off Senpai style.

Pretty quickly the stalker is caught and exposed by Nagatoro. He runs off screaming that he’s sorry and he’ll never do it again. Everyone but Senpai and Nagatoro leave, they walk together home. Her teasing him the whole way. Saying he’s just not ready to date he was so awkward, he says “yeah, you may be right.” And Nagatoro smiles the happiest smile ever.

Review

This show is so wholesome! Whilst leaps and bounds have been made in Nagatoro and Senpai’s relationship they’re clearly awkward and still unsure. It’s cute and it helps the show stay away from the “and suddenly they were all over each other” trope.

With Senpai being accepted as one of Nagatoro’s friends now it’s interesting to see her so obvious jealous reaction when one of them flirts or gets a bit too mean with him. She’s so obvious even Senpai can sense it. With the next episode bringing in a new face I’m excited to see how Nagatoro will deal with that.

Lovely and fun episode!
