Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro “Has Spring Finally Come For Senpai The Unpopular Lone Louse / She Said Something About Love Didn’t She Senpai” Review

Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro “Has Spring Finally Come For Senpai The Unpopular Lone Louse / She Said Something About Love Didn’t She Senpai” is the twelfth and final episode of the Nagatoro anime. Following the set up for the festival in episode 11. Senpai finally reveals his art to his friends and Nagatoro. But there’s no time to rest as the competition to beat the President is still very much alive.

Has Spring Finally Come For Senpai, The Unpopular Lone Louse?

The group all look and admire Senpai’s everyday paintings of Nagatoro. And whilst they tease him that all of them look like they’re from a boyfriend’s point of view, it’s clear they like them. Taking their chance to whilst she isn’t there everyone except Senpai goes to the President’s side of the art room. And are shocked. Whilst she’s known for her lewd style, the one they see surprises even them as a bit too raunchy.

The day of the festival is here and Nagatoro and the others are clearly up to something. There’s a Nagatoro-cat strap that’s being sold and become all the rage around the school. Senpai is immediately suspicious. As he should be because not much time has passed before Yoshi and Sakura dressed on Torocat costumes, along with Nagatoro in her costume start to perform. They perform a dance which has apparently taken the school by storm. A dance which is called the “Toying With You” dance. And use it’s popularity to get people into Senpai’s art show. Torocat Nagatoro herself even starts teasing boys the way she did Senpai but not with the same vigour. Which very much leaves Senpai massively jealous.

He gets spoken to and complimented by two girls outside his area where Nagatoro notices and gets super jealous too. Later when Nagatoro fumes a bit about it, Senpai explains the only reason the art came out that well is because she modelled for him. Nagatoro is stated and just starts to tease him again.

She Said Something About Love, Didn’t She Senpai?

Later in the day, the President’s piece is covered up and her display banned. The group are all eavesdropping on the Student Guidance Office where she’s appealing to have it put back. The office all agree it’s too lewd and she’s just trying to bring pervy men in with the naked form.

But the President argues that she’ll fight for her right to free expression and there’s nothing wrong with it. Senpai jumps in and argues for the President saying she helped him realise what true expression was as he realised he wanted to draw Nagatoro because of her. Nagatoro’s shoved into the argument and explains that even as a woman she thinks it’s beautiful. Then Yoshi comes along with her trusty camera and shows the SGO members that even though there were plenty of pervy guys, there were a ton of people in the back just appreciating it for what it was.

Later that day they learn from the President that she’s allowed to keep her work up. As long as she keeps a survey of the viewers and make a report. The tone is serious for all of 2 seconds before Nagatoro and crew force the President to admit this means she lost. She does and rips up the club termination form. However Gamo and Yoshi seem to think there should be a punishment for the loser. They decide on having the President dress up in a sexy bunny outfit and advertise their Torocat straps. Naturally they sell out.

Later in the evening the President shows up and survey’s Senpai’s work. She compliments them but also says that more that anything they contain “love.” Freaking the hell out Senpai denies it and both the President and Nagatoro start hounding him about not having love.

Review

This was adorable and they most certainly saved the best till last. Nagatoro and Senpai’s relationship has come such a long way. But more importantly Senpai’s relationship with Gamo, Yoshi and Sakura. And their relationship with the President. The best was the lovely post credits scene. Simple, Nagatoro sleeping being sketched by Senpai and when it’s finally finished giving him his gift. Instead of a prank this time a genuine kiss on the cheek with her teasing him as she walks out the door. So adorable and simple. Which also helps the entire series come full circle and show in just a few frames how much has changed.

This was the perfect ending to a fun and surprisingly wholesome series. With all episodes out now, I’d recommend this show to everyone. I don’t usually like wholesome romance comedies because they all tend to be a little same-y but this one is just unique enough to keep even my interest. Loved it.
