A new ending is being written for the shortened season, as fans of DC’s streaming service fear that Warner Brothers is planning on canceling Titans and Doom Patrol

Swamp Thing(based on the cult DC comic of the same name), the new show currently being shot for the DC streaming service, was shut down unexpectedly earlier this week.   This left cast and crew(and Wilmington, North Carolina residents and businesses-where it was being shot) wondering about it’s future.

DC’s Swamp Thing began as a comic in 1972, gaining it a cult following. Fan favorite writer Alan Moore took the helm in the 1980s. He began upping readership, bringing back obscure DC characters, as well as introducing the anti-hero magician John Constantine. His Swamp Thing helped to spawn the more adult oriented Vertigo line of comics.

A tweet by star Virginia Madsen about the shutdown was quickly deleted. Will the Swamp Thing will be relegated to a mini-series, serialized on the streaming service?

Swamp Thing’s fate isn’t the only one in question-Doom Patrol and Titans are streaming on DC’s service as well. This may also squash rumors of a revived Constantine series, especially considering John’s ties to the Swamp Thing, Alec Holland(He even mentions Alec when a phone number was used in a promotion for the NBC show. The phone number is still viable, but the message has changed if you want to call- 404-248-7182)

Whether this is a move by Warner Brothers to begin shutting down their streaming service or even if it is in preparation for possible problems the Writer’s Guild are facing remains to be seen. Swamp Thing has a rich mythos that could have introduced Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, given time.
