Chasing Life Season 1 Review

At the beginning of summer, ABC Family introduced a new TV show called Chasing Life, staring Italia Ricci as April. This show deals with a sensitive subject matter – cancer, specifically leukaemia. This hits close to home for me since I am a thyroid cancer survivor.
Chasing Life is about April, a twenty-something writer for a Boston newspaper, who lives at home with her family. She finds out she has cancer and has to learn to deal with all the different things that go on in her life prior to starting treatment – like breaking the news to her family and friends, which is really hard for her as she is in denial. The show covers her job, her family, men (Dominic played by Richard Brancatisano and Leo played by Scott Michael Foster) and even her sister’s sexuality.

The show is very touching and heart-warming and also very sad. I have cried more than once while watching it, especially during her biopsy episode. I just kept thinking as I watched that scene how lucky she was to have someone with her because when I had my biopsy, I was all by myself.

Chasing Life has ended for the season but there will be a special episode during Christmas time. I suggest you hop on Netflix or ABC Family and catch up on the all episodes. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
