Call Of The Night “Reproduce” Review

Call Of The Night “Reproduce” is the seventh episode of the Call Of The Night anime. Following the ever entertaining episode 6 Ko meets Kiyosumi again and once again finds similarities between the way she sees the world and the night and the way he does. Not so shortly after he meets a girl eventually identified as Seri Kikiyou who comes up to him because he notices her being hit on by a guy. She steals his drink as they chat and eventually goes to drink his blood, probably kill him, as she turns out to be a vampire. Nazuna stops her though and basically gets seriously angry that someone would threaten Ko. Ko is kidnapped by another vampire and taken to whole group of them; Midori Kohakobe, Hatsuka Suzushiro, Nico Hirata and Kabura Honda. Though Nico does most of the talking, they give him a choice; fall in love with one of them or be killed. He resists their charms though and openly says he wants to fall in love with Nazuna just as she arrives. With Ko explaining their unique situation and understanding to the others, they finally relent and allow him to live so he can fall in love with Nazuna.

Review

I still don’t know how I felt about this episode, the part where Ko was almost killed surprised me but then the episode just kinda turned into “clueless guy has harem of chicks going after him” for a while and it was so boring but the last few moments picked up, just a tad. I’m worried about the show, I feel like it doesn’t know whether it wants to be a harem or a romcom and has decided it’s going to be both but that definitely hurts the characterisation of already established and loved characters, plus it makes the story seem messy and random.

This episode just about saved itself with the ending but I hope this isn’t an example of things to come.
