Call Of The Night “Might as Well Have Fun” Review

Call Of The Night “Might as Well Have Fun” is the sixth episode of the Call Of The Night anime. Following episode 5’s ending, Ko has to do the client’s massage, which he does whilst also talking to her. He discovers that she’s really no different to him, using the night to get away from the mundane of daily life. After he discovers that he finds out that she’s tired of work, her boss calls during the massage and Ko refuses to allow her to go to work at such an unreasonable hour. Being the honest idiot he is, he also tells her everything about wanting to be a vampire, leaving behind his boring human life and she laughs at the childishness of the idea. She isn’t wrong, Ko’s plan (if you can call it that) has always been massively immature in it’s nature, avoiding acceptance of adult life by abandoning humanity altogether. Obviously Ko doesn’t see it that way and makes a desperate argument that her boss calling her at 2am is immature so it’s the same. She leaves with hope in her heart as she now knows she can always stop being human if she wants because Ko was very liberal with the vampire creation rules.

The better part of the episode happens after, when Ko and Nazuna decide to go to a night time pool. Nazuna, sensing an opportunity to make Ko jealous and such enact revenge for the jealousy she clearly feels allows a couple of guys to flirt with her. This enrages Ko and gives Nazuna exactly what she wants but it’s obvious she feels guilty. She apologises and flies him to his school’s pool where they both go for a quick dip. The whole section is adorable, not exactly subtle but that’s OK and Nazuna is as hilarious as she always is. Loved this one, really saved it from the last episode.
