Blinker #3 Comic Review
I previously reviewed the first two issues of Rosie Packwood’s Blinker series earlier this year and thorougly enjoyed them, so I was pleased when Rosie sent over Blinker #3 for me to take a look at.
Synopsis
Having escaped the clutches of the mysterious Hive, Merrik and Trixie made their way to Kudullah – home of the shining Rae and the stunning Galactic Gemstone theatre. But not everything was as crystal clear as it seemed, and after some smashing mix ups and mishaps, the show really might just be over!
Drag Queens, AI chips, Brainmelds and more! With new friends along for the ride, Merrik needs to figure out who he can trust and who has their own interests at heart. When new powers manifest, old acquaintances hear the call. Merrik’s world will be turned upside down in the blink of an eye.
Blinker #3
Blinker is a fun, intergalactic journey suitable for all ages. There’s a lot more to our protagonist Merrik than meets the eye (I won’t say too much for those who haven’t read yet). The story whips along at a spritely pace, with Rosie’s art giving it lots of depth. There are a few pages in this issue as Merrik travels around Kudullah that I absolutely loved. Rosie has put a lot of detail into the backgrounds. I imagine younger readers would get as much enjoyment as I did out of studying the pages.
I re-read the first 2 before diving in to the new issue and was holding my breath after the end of #2. Thankfully the pay-off from the cliffhanger comes quickly in #3 and is really neat. It nicely leads in to the next stage of the story.
Things really start to heat up (pun absolutely intended – are you new here?) in #3. Not only for our hero on Kudullah but also for those who are looking for him. I was surprised to see the way things went with the Matriarchs Merrik escaped from. I can’t wait for #4 to find out what happens to Merrik and his new friends, and also the Matriarchs who want to get him back.
