Blindspot – Warning Shot Recap

This week’s Blindspot saw the return of a familiar face in the form of Archie Panjabi’s Nas Kamal, as well as more Rich Dot Com (which is always a great thing in our book). We also got to see Blake taking a lead in trying to help her father and getting kidnapped in the process. With all this going on, I sat down with fellow Blindspot addict Mo (@HowlingMadMo) to discuss the episode. Join us for our Blindspot – Warning Shot Recap roundtable.

The Questions

This week’s episode saw Archie Panjabi return as Nas. We haven’t seen her since she took the fall for the team at the end of season 2 and got kicked out of the NSA. Were you glad to see her come back?

M – I was so happy to see Nas back as she had everyone’s respect as well as ours.

C – Absolutely yes! She was a great part of the team in season 2 and I’ve really missed having her around. Also her reaction when she first saw Rich was priceless!

What do you think of the revelation that she’s working for the CIA, and that Zapata (Audrey Esparza) knew and lied to the team?

M – I think that it’s good she got work after taking the fall for the others. But the CIA are seriously dodgy and Zapata’s behaviour backs that up. I hate that she lied and it better be for good reasons or I think we will be having words.

C – I think it’s not really a surprise that Nas was still working in the intelligence community somehow, but I do think Zapata is going to get caught in a lie sometime very soon.

Do you think Zapata is starting to question her move to the CIA?

M – I think Zapata is starting to question her move because now it’s affecting the people she loves and cares for.

C – I think being around people who are more black and white than Jake “shades of grey” Keaton (Chad Donella) is certainly having an impact. So is being back around Reade as much.

This was another Rich Dot Com (Ennis Esmer) heavy episode, what do you think his character brings to the show?

M – I think Rich brings some humour to the show and makes some of the tech talk hilarious and his relationship with the team is amazing as he brings out their sarcastic sides.

C – He gets Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) to wear a suit and look damn fine doing it? Seriously though, I love that everyone seems a little more relaxed with Rich around. It’s also back up for Patterson cos she finally has someone who gets her on a geek level.

Over in Rio, Blake (Tori Anderson) and Tom/Roman (Luke Mitchell) had an “intense” strategy session. By putting herself out there like this, and getting involved with the shadier side of her father’s dealings, do you think Roman is going to get conflicted between his feelings for her and his desire to bring Crawford (David Morse) down?

M – I think Roman is falling for her and in the end will try to save her whilst taking Crawford down. He has set a lot in motion and Crawford is going down big time!

C – I am pretty certain that they are both going to get their hearts broken at some point in the very near future. As much as he is usually about 5 steps ahead, I think his feelings for Blake are starting to interfere. He may find himself caught between a rock and a hard place.

Speaking of Blake – that kidnapping at the end was pretty shocking. Do you think we are going to get Roman doing his very best Liam-Neeson-In-Taken impression to get her back?

M – I totally think Roman will go Liam Neeson and get Blake back because even if he isn’t in love which I think he is she is part of his plan with regards to Crawford.

C – Oh without a doubt. Bit scared he might be a little reckless about it though, and I don’t want him to get hurt.

Why do you think Avery (Kristina Reyes) trusts Kurt so much more than she does Jane?

M – I think Avery trusts Kurt as she feels bad for fooling him. She could tell from that small amount of time he loves Jane and is a good guy, because he is.

C – Avery was very close to her dad, and she has been turned against Jane by Roman, even if she now realises that’s what happened. It’s going to take her a while to warm up to Jane, but Kurt has always been honest with her up to this point. I also think maybe she feels a tiny bit sorry for letting him believe she was dead!

After Meg (Reshma Shetty)’s revelation about her undocumented status, do you think that Reade (Rob Brown)’s proposal is going to cause them problems?

M – I don’t think the proposal will cause problems with Meg but I think if it comes to marriage or people finding out about her bad documents may screw things up big time.

C – I don’t think it can go any other way to be honest. It’s a drama show after all. Finding out the Assistant Director of the FBI tried to “fix” his gf’s immigration status is pretty damn dramatic.

What was your favourite moment in the episode?

M – Fav moment would be Nas kicking ass when they know she isn’t PUK.

C – Okay I’m just gonna say it – Kurt and Nas talking on the phone right at the end. I forgot how much I liked them together. As much as I ship Jeller, Nas and Weller had great chemistry. I love the soft, relaxed, almost teasing nature of that call. It’s a side of Kurt that we don’t get to see much.

Least Favourite?

M – Least fav moment was nothing lol cos I loved it all

C – ditto!

Blindspot airs Friday nights at 8/7c on NBC. In the UK it airs Mondays at 10pm on Sky Living.
