Alienated #2 – Comic Review
What better way to cheer yourself up during this current crisis than with…COMICS. Alienated #2 just dropped through my letterbox this morning. I have been waiting (im)patiently since it’s release this past Wednesday for it to turn up so I dived straight in.
If you want a refresher on #1, you can check out my review here.
Alienated #2
The trio of Sams are now looking after their alien squid baby which they have named Chip. With their minds still linked Sam-Sam-Sam (as Chip calls them) have spent a couple of days working on keeping their thoughts and memories protected from each other.
Samuel has been charged with squid-sitting and that is causing some issues. Chip has been downloading memories from the boy they “disappeared” into Samuel’s head. Memories that seem to include the fact that the kid was going to bring a gun to school.
Upping the ante
In this issue I felt like the story really got going. These three outsider kids who have been brought together in the most extreme way start to explore the boundaries and possibilities of their new-found abilities. I loved that this issue mostly takes place from Samuel’s POV. I hope that, as the series progresses, we will get issues that focus on each of the trio and how they are dealing with the situation.
The art in #2 is on another level. The double page spread in the middle of the issue is absolutely breathtaking and the sequence that follows immediately after that left my jaw on the floor. Wildgoose and May are absolutely an artistic dream team, especially when enhanced by Jim Campbell‘s letters. If you were in any doubt about starting Alienated, please give it a chance. You will NOT regret it.
