New Horizons an Animal Crossing Review – A joyful and heartfelt addition to the series

New Horizons is an absolutely addictive delight that I can’t stop playing. It is the latest in the Animal Crossing series of games. Also, quite possibly the best. The newest installment, by Nintendo, is absolutely charming. It also boasts a new and exciting new feature; Nook Miles.

The additional new features are; seasonal changes based on location in real world, new characters, connectivity to the Nintendo App and Animal Crossing mobile game and new animations.

New Content

The new content is really where this Animal Crossing game separates itself from it’s predecessors. The Nook Miles system is genius and gives you something to aim for that alot of the other games don’t. Basically, you do certain tasks (like talk to everyone every day for 10 days or catch 10 fish) and you get some Nook Miles. These are highly valuable and can be traded in for bells or for exclusive items.

This is definitely a genius move on Nintendo’s part. I know alot of people, including me, who have played the AC games but gotten bored before the year is over because it’s a game without a huge amount of variety. Bringing in the Nook Miles system gives incentives to actually stick with the game instead of just giving up when it starts to get repetitive.

The others are just as good. The multiplayer where you can visit your friends’ islands plays solidly and the chat feature included (finally a game that utilizes Nintendo Online well! We got there folks!) Is fun and keeps the experience fresh.

Review

Quite frankly, I love this game so much! It’s a solid game to play every day that’s creative enough to keep you entertained but not too easy or boring for those who aren’t usually sim game players. I myself don’t generally like simulation type games but I love this game. I can see myself playing it every day for quite a while, I’m already annoying people by asking to visit their islands!

The multiplayer is just as fun, going to a friends island is fresh and fun and has already had me questioning if I chose the right island (I got oranges on mine and I’m annoyed, everyone else seems to have peaches or cherries.)

It’s fun. Simple. And I would absolutely have this game down as a system seller. It is for me and I’ll be recommending it to any friends who don’t already have it (not many then.)
