Aharen-San Wa Hakarenai “Isn’t This Too Addictive” Review

Aharen-San Wa Hakarenai “Isn’t This Too Addictive” is the fourth episode of the Aharen-San anime. This episode starts anew from episode 3 but we are introduced to some new characters; Miss Tobaru, Atsushi and Futaba. Not forgetting Nui, Aharen’s dog that she rides when she’s too tired to walk. Nui only makes a brief appearance but it’s wonderfully hilarious.

Aharen The Rapper

The whole rap section of this episode made me laugh out loud, it was gut bustingly funny. Aharen is a really good rapper and Raido does actually succeed in being great too but the funniest part that got me the most was when they realised having a microphone and throwing shapes was the only way they could actually rap. As someone who’s not actually a fan I may become one after hearing Aharen rap.

Tobaru being a pro shipper was expected when she first noticed them together and whilst it’s obvious where the joke is going to go, it’s still funny every time she shows up. She’s so overdramatic about it and the Tobaru section are so random that it’s something to look forward to.

Whilst admittedly with the inclusion of new characters, older ones get left behind, I’m OK with that. I didn’t miss Oshiro at all even though I had just about warmed to her. Hopefully she is back in future episodes though.

The whole episode was wonderfully quirky and brilliantly hilarious and after not being so much a fan of last episode this one reminded me exactly why I love this show. Everything about it was spot on. The jokes landed, the directing was amazing along with the pacing and like I’ve said before about this show, you can see the joke a mile away but somehow it ends up being funnier the more obvious it is.
