Stride of Pride

Stride of Pride

With every episode of The Bold Type they always makes me feel things, even when I don’t want. Stride of Pride is no different.  This is the fifth episode into season two and they are not holding back with tackling more issues. From cheating married men to race issues.

Sutton

Sutton (Meghann Fahy) wakes up in bed with Dillon, a guy met the night before and things seems amazing. That is until she realizes she needs to be at work for a meeting in 15 mins. So she sends out an emergency text to ask her besties to help a girl out.

And of course her girls come through in a pinch. She is still a little late for her meeting, but she manages to come up with a pitch that saves her butt. Turning her walk of shame into a Stride with Pride. Even though Oliver is wise to her “Walk of Shame”, he still likes the idea.

Sutton tells the girls about her night with Dillon (Kevin McGarry) and the girls convince her to invite him out to their Karaoke night, so they can meet him. It all goes as well until the karaoke screen freezes mid song and the girls don’t know the words. But fear not, Dillon comes to the rescue and saves the day with the lyrics on his phone. The girls are singing their hearts out until a texts pops up on his phone.

Turns out Dillon is married. And, you guess it, the shit hits the fan right there mid song on seat with all the bar to watch. Yeah, it wasn’t pretty. He leaves and they get drunk cause that is what besties do.

Sutton being Sutton, she can’t leave it alone. She finds his wife, Allison (Caitlyn Sponheimer) thanks to google and public records. She decides she is going to contact her and tell her about what happen. Kat (Aisha Dee) is not on board for this idea but like I said Sutton being Sutton, her mind is made up.

Shockingly enough Allison wants to met and it goes better than I thought it would. Most things like this the wife is pissed and blames the other woman but in this case she doesn’t. Allison is heartbroken and just wants to know the details of what happens. In the end you feel sorry for them both. But something Allison says to Sutton gets her to thinking about her ex Richard (Sam Page).

As she walks and thinks about it, she ends up infront of Richard’s apartment. Only to see him get out of his car with another woman. And sadly, Sutton is heartbroken all over again.

Kat

Kat is always trying to change the world of Scarlet. She need to hire someone new for the social media dept. but it hasn’t been going to well. When she finally finds the right girl, things don’t go as well as the should in the HR dept. Kat takes some advice from Jacqueline (Melora Hardin); she decides to fight for what she wants.

After taking a meeting with Richard and pleading her case, he tells Kat she can come to the board meeting and do the same thing in front of them. Kat gets this great idea to have Angie (Shyrley Rodriguez) to come do it for her. She believes if the board see her in action it will be hard from them to deny her the job.

Kat wins again!!

But will she when in the love dept? Adena (Nikohl Boosheri) was absent this whole episode, off on a retreat of some sort. But something is up cause the preview for next week left me wanting.

Jane

Jane (Katie Stevens) and Dr. Ben (Luca James Lee) seem to be getting along just fine. As the episode starts with these two in bed. Which of course is interrupted by Sutton’s SOS text message.  I am happy Dr. Ben is still around. I honestly like him with Jane. He is so sweet to her but I worry that Ryan (Dan Jeannotte) will screw this good thing up somehow.

Speaking of Ryan, he gives Jane a lead about a job opening. Which Jane scores an interview. And she killed it. Only to be called later and told even though she was great they are doing to go in a different more diverse direction. This somehow sparks a very heated debate between Kat and Jane.

This whole debate with Kat and Jane was so frustrating to me. I understand both sides but I think Kat was a little harsh with Jane in the beginning. I mean Jane really needs and wants a job. And to not get it after thinking she would. In the end they both had valid points but I don’t think Jane needed to feel as bad as she did.  But of course after a glass of wine, and some butt kissing, all is well with the two of them again.

Can’t wait to see what happens next week. Be sure to stop by for my live tweets of this show every Wednesday. Sorry I missed this past week, it was the 4th and I had a killer migraine. I will not miss next weeks. Until then…catch ya on the B-side.
