Wonder Egg Priority “The Terms Of Friendship” Review

Wonder Egg Priority “The Terms Of Friendship” is the second episode in the Wonder Egg series. This episode, like it’s predecessor, focuses on Ai going to get more and more eggs from the gatcha machine in order to revive her friend. However, as she bgins to open up to the world she realises the world isn’t necessarily ready to open up to her.

Overview

Ai finds herself amazed by the fact that there’s another girl getting eggs from the machine. Thankful she’s not alone she goes out of her way to talk to the stranger. However the stranger just completely ignores her. Until one fateful moment when she asks Ai why she’s fighting. Ai answers honestly and tells her about Koito. The stranger then throws Ai for a loop by asking if she’s really fighting for her friend or for herself?

Wonder Egg Priority Neiru

Throughout the story the audience is shown flashbacks of the girl giving Ai her details so that she can contact her if the situation changes. The girl, named Aonuma Neiru, suggests that Ai get eggs on odd days and her on even. That way they’ll never have to come across each other again.

Ai cracks the egg open by accident, as she’s still a bit scared, and all hell breaks loose. She meets the girl in the egg who seems to admire Ai for being pretty and considers her brave for being a shut-in. The girl is a former gymnast. The boss finally shows up and we finally get more of an explanation. Ai finds out that the bosses that try to kill the girls she has to protect are their “trauma” come to life.

This girl is very timid and refuses to fight back against her overbearing coach, who is her trauma, meaning Ai must make her see that being punched around isn’t acceptable. The only way to protect this girl is to help her find her will to fight.

Review

Another stellar episode of Wonder Egg. It dives deep into the psychology of being too scared to stand up for yourself. Allowing yourself to be beaten and toxic people who cause it and use it as a reason to target you. Throughout the episode the audience is treated to flashbacks of Koito and how she was bullied. Even more importantly, how Ai was always too afraid to help her do anything about it.

It shows how courage can be difficult and even someone as timid as Ai can find the willpower to fight back. It’s always been there, she’s just been to afraid to look for it and accept it.

Some may pass this episode off as being nowhere near as good as the first. But it’s an important episode that reveals alot more about the dream world Ai fights in.
